Washing and humidifying the air is Tom's specialty! Large rotating discs inside are designed to filter up to 50% of small to medium-sized particles out of the air, while at the same time boasting a humidifying capacity of max 3.5 gallon per day. If Tom should run out of water despite his sizeable 1/5 gallon tank, he will automatically shut off to reduce power consumption (although at 19 W he is already conservative.) Tom's self-cleaning mode is unparalleled. There is no need for cumbersome disassembly. Simply turn on the "extra cleaning cycle:! Since Tom is a very thorough chap, his special pre-filters will also filter larger particles such as household dust and hair out of the air.

Apparently, my Tom didn't get the memo.
I have it in a 260 sqft room, set for 45% humidity. It has run continuously for about 3 weeks and made 45% once, very briefly, and then, presumably pleased with itself, quickly dropped back to the usual 30%. I have a separate hygrometer in the room because the humidity measurement of the unit is, to be most generous, flaky. (According to the instruction booklet the air humidity of the appliance is measured about once every 30 minutes.)
The instruction booklet says: "The humidifying performance depends upon the speed of the ventilator [i.e. the fan]. You can choose between 4 power levels." What it does not say is that speed #4, the highest, says on for only about a half an hour, then automatically drops down to speed 3. Maybe the unit would humidify better it if it could be kept on the highest speed, but that seems to be impossible, short of running into the room every half hour, and bumping the speed up.
The unit allows allows you to set the humidity up to as much as 75%. I have mine in a room one quarter of the advertised capacity (1,000 sq ft) and it barely pushes the humidity above 30%. I suppose 75% might be possible in a closet - a small closet, but mostly I think of it as a joke, like an old car I had with a speedometer that went up to 120 - no way, not even on its best day down hill with a tailwind would that hunk of junk go 120, and there doesn't seem to be any way I can get Tom to humidify at 45%.
I bought this largely on the strength of the other reviews -- I don't know what unit they got, but my Tom is a dud.
So if you care more about form than function, maybe this is the humidifier for you. But it you want a humidifier to, well, humidify, look elsewhere.
Amazingly quiet unit, runs a long time on one tank. Definite improvement to our quality of life in the house, though it cannot keep up in 20 degree weather with keeping the whole house at 45%, it still helps, and if put in your main room, will maintain that room perfectly.
Our baby came home from the hospital with dry and chapping hands which have cleared right away, so glad we got this product.
The water tank holds about 1.5 gallons and needs to be refilled about once per day if unit is run constantly.
This humidifier works for one room - we haven't seen a significant increase in humidity in adjoining rooms. But it does a very nice job in our bedroom and does not disturb sleep.
