It is a hefty 17 lbs. It is not going to flex or move at all on you after you set it up properly.
It can be stored either in 3 pieces or flat in one piece or semi-flat in one piece without disassembly.
Mine did not come with any instructions, but it was not too hard to figure out.
I used the rectangular foam stickers to help guide placement of the keyboard Yamaha YPG-235 76-key Portable Grand Graded-Action USB Keyboard so that it stays in place at the front of the top bars (for more knee room when seated).
I was excited to see that the stand can collapse down to be very flat. Be sure to keep track of all the knobs and washers as you do this. Might take a little extra thought to fold it up than an X-style stand, but the sturdy nature of the Z design makes up for that in my opinion. I don't have a need to move mine very much, but it's nice to know that I can without too much trouble.
The stand adjusts right out to what I need width wise, and I can use it either direction.
Not really clear, but, it's not complicated folks. The only gocha was the fact two parts needed to be totally disconnected and re-assembled once removed from the packaging. Not tough, but I could see it frustrating somebody.
Easy to grip, easy to tighten knobs. I love the fact the knobs for the height are fixed into holes with screw knobs, not spring loaded buttons. Makes it super sturdy. The lines on the tubing line up with the top of the lower portion of the stand. If you do that, the screw knobs go right in where they're supposed to.
Like a rock. Not going to fold up like a Kmart deck chair in a wind storm (as the Dixie Dynamo would say).
Fold-up post show:
I don't like this part. The stand folds up super flat, but there are no clips, spring loaded or otherwise to hold it in the flat position. I find that when I'm carrying it, the legs like to flop back open as I walk. A Velcro cable wrap or a piece of gaff tape solves it, but it's an irritant. it's the ONLY reason it didn't get 5 stars.
Nice and light.
Overall a super stand for lots of uses. The printing on the exterior box is awesome. Like stock footage from 1992. I cut it out and stapled it to the wall in the shop.
Might not recommend for someone playing shows as it does not folder up quickly; need to remove 1 screw on each side.
The "Z" design offers plenty of clearance for my feet and knees while seated, and the adjustment knobs are easily accessible from the front; though it's not entirely clear to me which side is really the "front".
The stand top is deep enough to accommodate my Axiom 49, and leaves enough extra stand-top to add a 6" deep shelf, perhaps for a sheet music holder-gizmo and certainly a drink or too.
