This is Meeka (Harlot) and Asher (Vice-One) story and trust me it was a wild and crazy ride. I loved these two together. I thought that they brought a lot to the story. Their chemistry was on fire! I was glad of the whole best friends scenario. Who doesn't love when two characters that are friends realize that they want each other? They have some obstacles in their way. Asher feels like she deserves better.
"Meeka was the piece of me that was stolen as a child. She was the warmth and goodness I craved. If she only knew how I felt. But I wasn't a good man. She deserved better. She didn't deserve a broken man."
I loved Meeka. She was a feisty character that gave as good as she got! I loved how once she realized how much she loved him that she loved him unconditionally.
"He wasn't a monster. He wasn't his stepfather. He was so much more. He was one of the best men I know. And I would do everything in my power to make him see that."
The storyline pulled me in from the get go and I couldn't put it down. I thought I knew where the story was going to go but as always JM changes things up and kept me guessing.
I enjoyed the secondary characters. They have filtered through from Grit to now, never overpowering. Just enough to make me want their stories...like yesterday.
I'm hooked and cannot wait for more!

Asher is undercover and trying to find the ringleader of this sex trafficking scandal that we learned about in Grit. He needs help and ends up bringing Meeka into this undercover as well, but not necessarily with her consent. As they are about to meet the person in charge now, Charles Brian, they end up kissing and things heat up extremely quick between the two of them. Now completely submerged into this other society they try to keep up appearances but things slowly unravel. Asher is more invested in the background of this story than you will ever expect. It will pull at your heartstrings! Unexpected people are in the middle and things go to hell in a hand basket very fast. Plenty of twists to keep you on your toes and constantly guessing who and what is going to happen next.
If there is one thing that JM Walker knows how to do, it's writing a HAWT scene, but one thing I have come to love is the way the bad guy comes to life with her words. Charles Brian is a bad guy that you love to hate. As if Meeka and Asher aren't intense enough on their own, the setting, the supporting characters and the bad guy will keep your heart pumping. I am not normally a fan of MC books but I cannot put this series down. Bad girls and their bad guys! Perfect combination.
I loved the connection between Asher and Meeka; their relationship was so loving and steamy. I wanted to love the book, but there were so many secrets I got a little confused throughout the story. The part with Tyler in it also confused me, I can't tell what his end game is but he is still a butthead.
I just wanted to hug Asher so much, his step-father was so evil and really ruined his childhood and messed with his mind. The one thing that kept him going was Meeka which made their best friend love turned into true love.
I am dying to know what is going to happen between Max and Dale!
