I am really enjoying this steamer! In the past, I've used the cheap aluminum steamers - which would fall apart due to either poor or lazy design, plus...aluminum - not good. In my search for a quality, stainless steel steamer, I found this one. I'm used to 'bargain' shopping because of limited income, so i winced a bit at the price, but you totally get what you pay for and I was desperate. I consider it an investment in our health and have absolutely no regrets in buying this product - it's wonderful! Highly recommend!

Works like a charm!! Raw Veggies steamed to your idea of perfection in a jiffy! Need very little water. I use it daily...if only for a quick snack.
Sometimes for a crispy crunchy result I toast the veggies a little before serving.

Experiment if want a lid on or off......depends on:
* how much you're cooking
* what you're cooking
* how firm you want it
* how you cut it up (slice sizes, round or length-wise cut etc.)
I keep a little diary of what I've done & the results with the different foods steamed until I hit a keeper.{~:~}

DO TAKE THE TIME TO DRY IMMEDIATELY & COMPLETELY TO KEEP IN PERFECT CONDITION

I think a lot of these reviews are very generous.
I've had my steamer for about a month and it gets the job done. It can adjust to most pots and I've been steaming everything from a bag of frozen veggies, fresh veggies, dumplings, potatoes... and the list goes on.

My only complaint is the steamer based had some rust within a few days of use. I washed it in a dishwasher and noticed rush on the bottom but the legs. I still use it but now I'm mindfull to dry the steamer with a dish cloth. Other than that, it's works as expected. Also, the inside ring is removable.

My wife and I wanted to make our own baby food for out child. Most fruits and vegetables need boiled or steamed prior to pureeing. We wanted to make large volumes of baby food to freeze and thaw as needed. This steamer was great for that purpose. Kitchen space is at a premium and so buying a separate appliance would not have been ideal. This steamer folds down nicely to not take up much room. It expands out to fill our large pot and allow us to steam quite a bit of food. I also like that it is stainless steel.

I will say that based on this design, with a tall pot, you can steam a large volume of food since it can be stacked up. Unfortunately, the legs on this steamer or only about 3/4" tall. This is a positive for taking up little space, but a negative for steaming for a longer period. Be sure to add more water if you need to steam for a while.

I would recommend this steamer or buy it again if I needed another one.

Terrible Quality & Falls Apart (Updated)

I’m not sure why this is rated so well on here. I had the same steamer basket for many years and it held up great. It finally gave out and I purchased this one. From the moment I received it all of the “flaps” were loose and had a lot of play. Nothing on this steamer is tight, the thing jingles like wind chimes anytime you move it. Every time I try to close it at least one flap catches and will not close. Sometimes the flaps even come off because of how loose the fit is (That’s what motivated me to write this review). It’s nice that it has a extendable handle but that the only good thing about this. I don’t like to leave negative reviews but this product is not good quality at all and is easily my worst Amazon purchase.

Update: After the flaps started falling off I had to use this one more time while waiting for my new steamer pot from another company. I pieced this back together and steamed some broccoli. When I pulled the extendable handle up, it fell apart too. I added a couple pictures to show how it looked before it went in the garbage.

This 6.4 to 10.4 inch vegetable steamer works great used with a 2 1/2 inch steaming rack www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4E8PG6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1 in a 6 quart Farberware Classic Stainless Steel Covered Stock pot www.amazon.com/Farberware-Classic-Stainless-6-Quart-Stockpot/dp/B000058AKA/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1489457889&sr=1-1&keywords=farberware+6+qt+pot. In opinion, the vegetable steamer itself has legs that are too short (3/4 inch) for proper steaming -- the vegetables are too close to the boiling water for proper steaming. But placing the Vegetable Steamer on top of the 2 1/2 inch heavy-duty stainless steaming rack raises the bottom of the Vegetable Steamer to 2 1/2 inches. This combo works great. I purchased the 2 1/2 inch steaming rack, but the 2 inch might almost as well.
