Untested recipes? Adult ice creams don’t freeze.

Initially, I thought this would be a fantastic book. I was wrong. As others have reviewed, even though there are descriptions of each recipe and how the author loves them, it seems as tho the recipes are untested! One of the adult recipes calls for 1 1/2 cups of whiskey. After doing much research, it turns out that putting that much alcohol make it unfreezable unless if you have a super chilled freezer to the point of -17°F. I’ve tried to find info on the author to attempt to contact her and there is no information on her anywhere!!! If I were to hear back and got help in troubleshooting what I did, then o may increase my rating. But till then, 1 Star!

I recently purchased an ice cream maker attachment for my KitchenAid stand mixer and then purchased this book as well. I hadn't made ice cream since childhood when we all took turns with the old fashioned hand-crank style mixers so I wasn't sure how well the attachment or the recipes would turn out. I was overjoyed with the experience and it's almost like a whole new world has opened up to me. The recipes are simple and absolutely delicious. How can strawberry ice cream taste so wonderful!

It seems like the recipes weren't double checked. We made the Nutella Gelato one and the ingredients did not list powdered milk but it showed up in the middle of the recipe. Also if we put everything into the bowl that the recipe called for, it would have really overflowed. Its a good guide to making ice cream with a stand mixer but be careful when following these recipes. The recipe calls for 3 cups of hazelnuts we only used 3/4 cup, it calls for semisweet chips and heavy cream to make a genache to add that we had to leave it out. We did this and it still made 2 quarts of gelato. The measurements are off. Not sure I would buy this again. Will be looking for another book.

Starts with a table of contents, an intro, how to use a freezing appliance, and a bit about ice cream.
Each recipe starts with a title, summary of the dish and list of ingredients.
Instructions are included and there are no servings, no pictures and NO nutritiona information.
Love combination of flavors you can create.

I’m new at homemade ice cream and my first try was blueberry ice cream. The ingredients listed were not the ingredients in the recipe. The ice cream didn’t ever reach a ‘custard consistency’ in the saucepan and didn’t thicken up to a ‘soft serve consistency’ in the freezer bowl. The recipes look good, but it doesn’t appear they have been tested before they made it to the book.

After reading all the other reviews with my same issue, I’ll be sending the book back before I waste anymore groceries and time.

This has a lot of interesting gourmet ice cream recipes. I am a pretty simple kind of girl. I really wasn't looking for gourmet ice cream recipes, so for me it was a little disappointing. But if you like those sorts of things this definitely your type of book! I gave it 3 stars because it didn't meet my needs, but that doesn't mean it won't meet the fancy cooks needs ha! You will probably love it!

I made two recipes that were OK, though some direction on how to properly make custard would have been helpful, but then I tried the Nutella gelato. It's missing ingredients (skim milk powder is listed in the instructions but not the ingredients, so I had no idea how much to use), steps (no idea when to add the melted chocolate mixture back in), and messes up which extract is needed (mentions one type in the ingredients and a different one in the instructions). Needless to say I ended up with a liquid mess instead of creamy ice cream. There goes $15 of supplies down the drain...

I have only used this for 1 recipe so far and I’ve cream did not turn out- it never froze in mixer attachment and didn’t have ice cream consistency once frozen in freezer. Spent A LOT on making a batch of double choc (probably close to $20) and ended up throwing it out. I have used other recipes with no problems. I am hesitant it use another recipe from this book. It’s a shame- I was so looking forward to this book and trying out the recipes.
