We have 4 bathrobes and would hang 2 on doors and 2 on hooks, and just didn't like it! We redid our bathroom, and I thought "I'm going to doing something about those robes once & for all!" A COAT RACK!! Wow what a concept....fits great in the corner of my bathroom and all 4 robes are hung and out of the way. I can now shut a door without having to take a robe off it!
One note: make sure when you're putting it together that you separate the bolts correctly (haha), there really is (4) that are smaller then the (8) that go on the bottom, but you really don't notice, until you try to screw them into the top piece and they start hitting in the middle.
Two issues that I had with the stand are that the finish chipped away a little when I really tightened the screws, and one of the foot brackets was very difficult to attach because the screws are just barely long enough for the threads to catch on the main pole. My husband was able adjust the pieces to make it work, but it was a pain. Once it was in, it seemed like it would hold just fine, and all the other screws seem to be holding securely.
For me the the good things significantly outweigh the negatives.
Well to begin with one of the legs was warped. I called Coaster's customer service and they shipped another leg to me. Even though the leg was warped the coat rack still worked. The new leg looks much better the coat rack is even more sturdy now. One of the screws on the bottom section got stripped out, so I had to go to the toolbox. I used a slightly larger and longer silver screw and it did the trick. It doesn't match but it has secured the leg and I have turned that leg toward the wall so you can't see it. But the biggest problem with coat rack was that two of the legs were longer than the others (or the problem could be the screw holes are slightly higher). Two legs directly across from each other evenly rested on the floor. But the two other legs across from each other were slightly off the floor. The result is that the coat rack rocked back and forth. I solved the problem by going back to the toolbox and put some felt pads under the two wobbly legs. If you are not familiar with these you can get them at most any hardware store or at amazon. The bottom is felt and the other side sticks to whatever you want to attach it to. I then put an extra square rug that I had under the coat rack and voila, problem solved. No more rocking back and forth and the coat rack works fine.
You may wonder why I didn't give this coat rack lower marks for all the extra work that I had to put into it? Well, the price was excellent ($27). The customer service from coaster was fine too. The only real issue was having to go the extra mile to get it to balance properly. Sure it was a bit of a headache but you get what you pay for. Just read the reviews and you'll find that there is a decent chance that the coat rack you order will not work perfectly. Be prepared before you buy it. If you don't mind rigging things to make them work, then go ahead and buy this coat rack. Good luck...I'm just warning you that your coat rack may have a few issues like mind did. If you don't want to mess with it then buy a more expensive one, or you can roll the dice like I did. The price was right and it worked for me after a little extra work.
I always have tons of company for the holidays and no where to put coats, hats, scarves, etc. other than slumped over the stair banister. This was fantastic. It handled all that and even some purses. A review, or two, had stated that theirs didn't handle any weight at all. That was not my experience. It handled so much I was surprised. The great thing about it, is that it is light weight enough that I can move it out into the garage, or basement when not in use, like in the summer time. I love this thing so much I think I will get two more. One for the guest room and one for the back entryway. I am going to try to spray paint one. If I remember, I will post later to let you know how that turns out.
The ONLY thing that wasn't *perfect* about this, is that it did wobble very slightly. Something that can very easily be remedied with a felt pad, or two, under the offending 'leg'. For the price this coat rack cannot be beat!
