Val is released from prison after serving twenty-eight years for refusing to give up one of his close criminal associates. His best friend Doc is there to pick him up, and the two soon re-team with another old pal, Hirsch. Their bond is as strong as ever, and the three reflect on freedom lost and gained, loyalties ebbed and flowed, and days of glory gone by. And despite their age, their capacity for mayhem is still very much alive and well - bullets fly as they make a hilariously valiant effort to compensate for the decades of crime, drugs and sex they've missed. But one of the friends is keeping a dangerous secret- he's been put in an impossible quandary by a former mob boss, and his time to find an acceptable alternative is running out. As the sun rises on the guys' legendary reunion, their position becomes more and more desperate and they finally confront their past once and for all.

These guys have fun. They all understand they have limited time, and use it artfully. I want these guys to be part of my bucket list. Come on, guys, let's go have fun!
We all understand that much of this can only really occur in our fantasy. You can't take a man from his oxygen out for a night and expect him to keep on breathing. We run into several well known actors through out this night, so exciting. Lost daughters, new clothes, more food than you can ever imagine, and, three old guys, life Long friends. What else could you ever want?

This film is about 3 old boys, going out one last night and doing what they used to do. One last night on the town, while the old bones can still hold up. While there is some action, some gun play. It is more about the relationship between the main characters; the show of respect, subtle emotions, and honor.
I know this short review cannot explain the film properly. So, I will end it quickly. But, if you enjoy Walken and Pacino. Not the characters they play, but the men themselves, and are curious to see how they play off each other. This is a great film to see. The way they feed each other's performance, the way their unique styles mesh, it is quite an interesting thing to see.
Rent it, if you are not sure. Buy it, if you understand what I was trying to say.
We are asked to believe a major plot point that would only make sense if the movie was presented broadly, as a farce. But, it is played straight, and that removes most of the fun.
All the actors do a great job, so if you can get past the plot, you'll enjoy their performances.
