Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display.
Standard Gage manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI.

The T-bar is rated to fit caliper arms up to 16.2mm (.637 in.) wide; my caliper arms all measure .625in wide.
I use the t-bar attachment primarily to measure the depth of seated primers while reloading ammunition. Accuracy and repeatability are within the accuracy specifications for the calipers.
I would buy again and do recommend this attachment if you have a need to determine depths accurately.
A handy accessory for converting a caliper to a depth gauge though it does come without any instructions so it is not for the total mechanical klutz or tool novice.
This works on all of them, but in the case of the Mit. calipers, it has to mount with the logo facing the rear due to the little clamp on the Mitutoyo beam not allowing it to sit flush in the groove of the attachment.
These are no depth mic, but for the price they will easily yield +/-0.001" accuracy, which is the limit of accuracy of the Mitutoyo calipers anyway. I'd highly recommend this. Wish I had come across them years ago.

had to modify to fit my Mitutoyo calipers but it was what I was looking for.Published 2 months ago by MoviezRhino
Great base for my cheap Ironton 6" Caliper. With a little trim of the foam in the caliper case, I keep this mounted and stored with the caliper.Published 9 months ago by David
