Product Description

The Standard Gage 00564001 T-Bar Depth Measuring Base attaches to the ruled blade of 6" (150mm) scale calipers to aid depth measurement and is 76.2mm long to span wide holes and recesses for stable measurements. It has a locking nut for securing in place along the blade and accommodates blades up to 16.2mm wide.

Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display.

Standard Gage manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI.

I find this T-bar adapter for sliding calipers well made, with a good fit to the three digital and dial calipers that I own.
The T-bar is rated to fit caliper arms up to 16.2mm (.637 in.) wide; my caliper arms all measure .625in wide.
I use the t-bar attachment primarily to measure the depth of seated primers while reloading ammunition. Accuracy and repeatability are within the accuracy specifications for the calipers.
I would buy again and do recommend this attachment if you have a need to determine depths accurately.

This is a clamp-on steel attachment depth gauge foot for vernier, dial and digital calipers. It fits calipers with .625" approximate width beams, something not mentioned in the listing. This includes some calipers considerably larger than the listed 6" caliper application in the listing title. The clamping screw is captive and not long enough to clamp down on the .5" width beam found on some Chinese made smaller dial and digital calipers without using a shim piece to take up the excess space. Depending on the exact design of the slide stop on the caliper beam the foot may need to be mounted with the manufacturers logo facing the same direction as the display or facing the back of the caliper.

A handy accessory for converting a caliper to a depth gauge though it does come without any instructions so it is not for the total mechanical klutz or tool novice.

I have some cheap Chinese calipers and a new Mitutoyo Digimatic.
This works on all of them, but in the case of the Mit. calipers, it has to mount with the logo facing the rear due to the little clamp on the Mitutoyo beam not allowing it to sit flush in the groove of the attachment.

These are no depth mic, but for the price they will easily yield +/-0.001" accuracy, which is the limit of accuracy of the Mitutoyo calipers anyway. I'd highly recommend this. Wish I had come across them years ago.

I have used these on my Mitutoyo and my cheap import tools sucessfully. This makes depth readings much easier and repeatable. So far I like it.

Fits my iGag perfectly. I set it about 3mm past the end of my calipers and zero out. The foot is large enough to easily assure that it is flat with the surface you are measuring.
