It's solid. The machining is decent. And the threading is good. But there are a couple of things that can be an issue. 1st, it's fairly small in diameter. I wouldn't say "too small" but it is noticeably smaller around than any of other adapters I have. 2nd, the outer surface is not knurled, which means it can be a little difficult to grip firmly. Same is true for the top and bottom surfaces which, especially combined with the smaller diameter, means it doesn't always stay tight. 3rd, the M:M threaded adapter that would thread into a camera base is too long and lacks the common rubber pads that help it "grip" the device it's attached to.
With this one, the threads are literally so long they hit the bottom of the socket on my Canon camera before reaching the bottom of the camera. That makes it more or less impossible to firmly mount the camera without having the slightest nudge knocking it loose. Shorter threads and rubber base grommets would 100% fix the issue, and I can use a spare grommet - but I shouldn't have to.
It's well built for the money, but there are options out there that do the job better.
I bought an inexpensive teleprompter a while back (the Glide Gear model available here on Amazon), and have found two problems with it. First, the camera sits a little bit too low, so when reading the text, I'm still looking above the lens, which defeats the entire purpose of using a prompter in the first place. Second it's difficult to move my hands around the cloth hood to get the camera screwed into place.
This little spacer solves both problems. It holds the camera just that little bit higher so that it's now in line with my prompter text. But it also provides an easier "target" for the screw that attaches the camera to the prompter mount, making set-up much easier. What took me a good fifteen minutes to set up before now takes about fifteen seconds.
It's a simple little device, but it's durably constructed--I'm not afraid of the product failing and dropping any of my expensive gear. If you have any use for a little tripod extender or spacer, you can't go wrong with this one.

1. Add two metal washers to stabilize and horizontally level the mount.
2. If you are using a heavy or longer lens, then you'd need to add some support to vertically level your setup.
IMO, someone should build a better mount in a U shape and slightly wider to support the weight of the camera and the lens.
