This London based author was born in the United Kingdom, but reared in Atlanta, Georgia, creating some kind of strange mid-Atlantic mutant. With a history degree and a short stint in the army, Donald is writing the kind of sci-fi that he enjoys.

This UK/US author is currently writing a nine book sci-fi series set in modern times, along with a number of standalone titles set in the same universe. These books are action-packed pulp. Fun for anyone who enjoys explosions, space-battles, and the occasional romance.

Great story, great characters!

While a lot of the early characters get eliminated in the story as it progresses, those characters lend to the protagonist's gradual growth and experience. Gripping suspense, believable action, and really good descriptions of how combat troops prepare and plan for action combine with an excellent plot that does reveal how good battle plans go awry as the action unfolds.

Well worth the time, money and effort to get this book. The only regret is to have missed her becoming a legend, which is how one of the major characters in her professional life described her future. Nw THAT would constitute a story!

Not a fan of the dual stories format plus there's tons of pointless battles and other stuff that I just skipped. None of which seemed to affect what little true storyline was actually a part of this book. Don't waste your time or money.

Lazy writing, sloppy writing.

Sloppy writing, she goes to sleep on the top bunk, wakes up looking up at the middle bunk.
Description says no shouting, just normal voices, then "over the shouting".
Lazy writing, she wants to join the military, and goes for initial tests, then she is in the military, no description of the tests.
Once she is in she has to go through initial training, no description except that she broke her collar bone (maybe there was a description of the final exercise, but I gave up before that).
A bazillion different "races" mostly differentiated by skin color.
