I read the 5th book in this 10 book series "Green Calder Grass" first and absolutely fell in love with the Calder family and their spectacular ranch in Montana. Then I knew I had to read the first book "Stands a Calder man" and start at the begionning of this Family. It has been a wonderful adventure and I could not wait to start the next book. Each book is just as wonderful as the last. I am planning to read them over again after a while and I'm sure I will love them as much the second time around. Once you start one of the books you will naturally want to read the others. so Please try to start at the beginning book and grow with this family.

This was part of a series I have also been looking for for some time and not only was it in great condition but it came really fast which was great. I have purchased two books for hard to find series I have and neither of them a disappointment to me as they might have been. I would not any any problems looking for your company as I know you would more than likely have what I need and it would be in the best of condition. Many thanks to you.

Janet Dailey wrote some really great books, and Stands A Calder Man was one of the best. I had read all of the Calder books before, but bought them for my Kindle so I could read them in order. It was almost as if I was living their lives with them. I really wish Janet Dailey would put out a family tree for their family. She is a great writer

**Review contains an unavoidable spoiler about the ending**

Janet Dailey's characters always seem larger than life, and the cast of STANDS A CALDER MAN is no exception. Second in a series of 10 (I think) novels about the Calder family, this one is a sweeping saga about the second generation of the Calder family in Montana.

Although usually classified as a romance, the label doesn't fit. Romance readers be warned: STANDS A CALDER MAN does NOT end happily ever after. In fact, I'm still wondering why Dailey chose the ending she did. The ending is poignant and perfectly serviceable, but it's not a traditional romance-novel ending. If you want an HEA, skip this book.

By skipping it, though, you'll miss a wonderful read. Montana at the turn of the 20th Century comes to vivid life under Dailey's pen. No one, including the wealthy, is spared Nature's wrath. The way the various character factions respond is imminently "real," fascinating, and ultimately sad.

For readers and writers of historical novels set in the American west, STANDS A CALDER MAN doesn't disappoint.

What a wonderful story - worth reading all 11 books. I was sad to learn
that Ms. Dailey had died - her stories were so real. I am from Montana
but do not live there any more and these stories told a good story of
the ranching in Montana.

I love the Calder saga, I love the time period it began and how evolves into the present times. I Hated Lilli died but I guess that's how it had to go. I can't wait to start the next book in this series, it's so hard to quit reading I don't get to sleep all night! I truly love these books, they are the best!!!!!

I absolutely love everything Janet Daily has ever written and the Calder Series were my most favorite of all. Stands a Calder Man was by far my favorite in the series and my favorite book of Janet's. I absolutely fell in love with Webb Calder, he was a REAL man and I imagine quite a hunk, my only wish is that I was Lilli. :) Are there any real men like this out there? If you haven't read any of these books you don't know what your missing. I've never been to Montana but just reading this series, I can almost see the raw beauty of Montana and would love to experience the "big sky country" for myself. It's now on my list of places to go. I will read and re-read these books for years to come. We lost a great woman and Author last year, Janet Daily will be forever missed.
