I've owned a Woods digital timer and it worked fine until the internal battery died in it. The bad part about the Woods timer is that the battery wasn't user replaceable! As soon as I opened the package and saw the battery compartment I was excited to see this feature! I first bought this because it was the cheapest digital based timer switch I could find and it didn't mention anything about a backup battery in the unit or that it was user replaceable.
My main concern about this item was if I could set it to turn off in one minute and turn back on. I have a skype phone which works fine, but every now and then it needs the unit to be reset (power turned off and on). So this device fit the bill perfectly with added features I didn't expect. Since it is digital it doesn't make any sound as a manual based timer (the ones with a circle based clock with plugs or pins you'd place to set it). Again the user replaceable battery feature is nice because obviously you can replace them yourself and it remembers your settings if the power happens to go out.
It is rather simple to program as in to set your times by just holding down either the TIME or ON or OFF button and then press the hour or minute button to set it.Read more ›
The reason we selected this specific unit was comments from other users that the internal batteries were user replaceable (a couple of button cells). A second factor was that it had to have a load-bearing capacity to handle an electric blanket - it does, and works fine.
Take a trip to your local Lowe's and see if they have a Utilitech Indoor Digital Timer. That's what I ended up doing after I couldn't find another timer with a slim design online. In fact, I liked the Utilitech timer so much that I went back and bought a second one.
Note: If you go to Lowes.com and search for the Utilitech timer, the stock photo will look exactly like this item. However, the actual Utilitech timer features a much more attractive design.
Now onto my review of the Stanley Digislim Timer...
It's hard to find a digital outlet timer that doesn't block the other plug, so I was happy to find this item for sale on Amazon.
However this timer stopped working after about only a week of use. It began to hum very loudly and then the lights would flicker and go out.
Unfortunately, I threw away the original packaging so I could not return the timer to Amazon, but the instructions that came with the timer said that the company that made them ("The NCC") would replace it.
I called the number in the instructions and spoke to an employee who gave me an address to send the timer to for a replacement.
I was told I would receive a replacement in 2-4 weeks, but it has been several months and I've gotten nothing.
BOTTOM LINE: DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. It's too unreliable as you'll see from the many other negative reviews. It also had a very cheap feel to it. I can't believe I threw away the packaging. I guess it's my fault for assuming the timer would last for more than 7 days.
1. Extremely easy to use
2. Large screen numerals
3. Battery backup (a godsend as we typcially lose electricity in the summer and winter seasons)
4. Will run without the batteries
5. Does not block other outlet
Another reviewer noted a con as only on-off once per day; but this is the reason I bought them. I had previously purchased another brand that had multiple settings for every day but WAY too complicated to set for my needs.

Really like these timers. Got to be the easiest to set and they have battery back-up if the power gors off. They don't lose time. Read morePublished 26 days ago by Donald R. Smith
This is a POS. Nothing beats waiting on the mail to arrive only to have your order not work. Especially when there are 2 hardware stores within 1/2 mi of my house.Published 1 month ago by C D Cummins
I recently purchased a set of two of these timers. Out of the packaging only one would allow me to set the time. I sent back two and received two replacements. Same problem. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Tony
