This thing is a little bulky. It requires some thinking to get it set up each time I used it. However, it does a very good job. The long handle makes it easy to use. Good leverage and can hold it with your leg while using both hands to screw down the board.

Worked really well and couldn't have finished the job without it, once I got a hang of how to lock it on the joist. You have to put the hook in at an angle to the joist for it to get any leverage. This will put some dents on the joist, but since joists will be covered by the deck boards, I didn't care.

Worked great untill bolt broke holding the head after pressing only 8 rows of deck boards. Replaced the bolt with a stronger grade 5 bolt, and no problems since

I'm not a deck builder, although I am a carpenter by trade. My area is more interior finish and cabinetry. I built a deck recently for my Mother. I haven't built one in years and def not one this complicated Three things I realized.1) I'm too old to building decks lol 2) The wood your forced to work with is pretty rough 3) You cant do a decent job without this tool.Being a finish carpenter I'm cursed with demanding perfection in my work and that includes doing a deck. I mill all my wood so when I am building a cabinet or doing trim my wood is perfect. Treated wood is certainly not, but its all we have to work with. This tool enables you really bring the boards in exactly where you want them. Its easy to use and the leverage it gives you is incredible. The great thing is, its easy to hold the board in place so you can nail or screw it in. Using a air framing nailer makes quick work of a lot of area and I must admit without this I'm not sure how you could accomplish decent work in a reasonable amount of time.I highly recommend for the builder or the homeowner one of these tools. You wont be disappointed and the frustration you'll avoid is well worth the price.

Somewhat awkward at times but it gets the job done. Provides a good amount of leverage to straighten those crooked boards. Handle is large and lacking in ergonomics but all in all this is a good product. You couldn't properly build a deck with pressure treated lumber without one.

Bought for building a deck and had several boards that were warped. This is exactly what I needed to bend them into position. Good design. I can hold the board in position and have both hands free to attach it.

It took some practice to learn how to use it, but this is an indispensable tool for laying a deck. Even if you are lucky enough to get prime wood, lumber today can twist, turn and warp very easily. With this tool, I was able to lay a straight deck that looks wonderful!

Bought it for a big deck job I knew I'd be working on alone. Allowed me to pull/push boards with one hand and secure them with the other. Can't ask for much more than that! It did exactly what I thought it would do. For those reviewers that bent the sway bolt on this tool, you must have been trying to flex a very short length of board to do that. I found that simply leaning my knee against the tool was sufficient to hold straight even the most drastically bowed boards while I used my free hands to screw or nail. There are better and more expensive tools out there that do the job of this tool, but for the occasional deck job, this is perfect.
