When I move the blade of this device up and down, the friction between it and the metal I was attempting to modify causes molecules in the metal to separate. Superb!

I purchased this hack saw because I needed to shorten steel pole supports for restaurant style chrome wire shelving. Here is my review:

1) Tension: The saw provides adequate adjustable tension for the blade.
2) Comfort: The handle is more comfortable than traditional hacksaws
3) Standard Blades: The hacksaw takes standard sized blades

This was a good purchase and suited my needs. I purchased additional blades for this saw below:

Used this to cut some wooden shelving angle brackets.
The blade did not really stay straight, although I may not have tightened the blade enough.
It seemed risky to do, since the knob is plastic.

this saw works great, but i don't know if its me or the saw that ends up cutting at an angle, when i want a straight cut

Great price at about $6 in 2014. The frame is all steel. The handle is a plastic mold around the metal frame. The tension screw is plastic which appears to be the only possible weak point but seems solid when used and gets the blade nice and tight with minimal effort, I think it is also molded around a metal core from the feel of it. I got this to cut a handful of aluminum thresholds and door sweeps to size and it made the job go fast and cut cleanly through thick aluminum. I didn't want my super sawzall bouncing all over marring the aluminum =)

Blade twists when cutting. Not a good design. Don't buy a saw that lets you twist the blade by design

Works great, have used it to cut wooden boards, great little saw you can put away in a small space when you're not using it. Great for apartment dwellers. A bit difficult to hold steady, but if you go slow, and don't apply too much pressure, it works great.

I had some 2x4s that needed a few inches taken off, and as a single female that has used a hacksaw a total of 1 time before (at my brother's boyscout day camp about 20 years ago), it wasnt too bad! It took me a few minutes to get the blade on and I had some issues keeping the cuts straight (all probably user error) but about 30 min later, I had 6 cut 2x4s and a pile of saw dust in the middle of my apartment living room. Late 20s life achievement unlocked.
