I purchased this rolling workshop for my husband who travels a lot to friends and family's homes to fix things. He is always looking for a tool bag he laid down somewhere and I thought this would be perfect. Now that I have purchased it I think I am going to buy another one for myself. It is very durable and easy to maneuver. With the large wheels you can move it all around and not get stuck, once we loaded it up the same was true. The latches are strong and tight and there is a lot of space.
With three separate places to store things you can take a lot with you. If we tried to load everything up it would take more than one trip from the garage to the truck. With this workshop it all goes in and rolls out to the truck, then rolls back to the garage again.
I will be purchasing one for myself soon. The amount of craft and sewing supplies I can get in here and take with me is ten fold what I can fit in a craft bag. With the tray and the mid-section compartment I have places to store all the odds and ends that would get lost in the bottom of a bag.
We definitely recommend this and are very pleased with the purchase.
I was excited to get this toolbox and finally have every thing in one place and much better organized. In those ways, it delivered very well. I condensed all my tools and various accessories into the toolbox, organizer and tub and it fit really well. Having the organizer latch into the whole piece is a smart touch and made finding screws, clips, etc. so much easier for me. And there was plenty of room to get my cordless drill and backup battery, bits, hammers, etc. into the tub and top toolbox. Honestly, it’s the perfect toolbox for someone without a dedicated work space.
The big flaw is the wheels! The axle/wheel connection is so flimsy that after I filled the toolbox, the wheels tilted inward and scraped pretty heavily on the sides of the bottom tub. It wears on both the tub and the wheels and the friction slows the wheels down noticeably. You can still roll it, but it’s not at all smooth. The axle clearly bends as soon as you tilt the unit to roll it and the wheels just kind of flop outward. I’m not sure how long it will roll before something gives way. Because I don’t have a dedicated workspace, those weak wheels are a major drawback - thus my rating. If the axle and wheels were solid, I’d give it a 4 out of 5.
It's a very spacious compartmentalized toolbox. I had been eying this toolbox for about a month. Working from home, it's hard to justify spending money on a plastic toolbox with wheels, specially when you could just buy a big metal workshop one for twice the price, twice the space, and twice the durability. I got this delivered, and immediately started tossing stuff in it to see how much could fit inside. I was surprised I was able to fit just about all the tools I use regularly (see customer images).
The best part of all, the independent toolbox on top. Apart from being spacious it serves a useful purpose of putting in there what you need from the bottom bucket, and just lugging the top toolbox around.
The material is the same plastic you can expect from a regular 16 inch Stanley toolbox. It feels durable for light/medium-duty work, whether working from home or just to lug electrical and a few power tools around. If you work in a harsh environment, you might want to look for a heavy duty rolling metal toolbox instead. The latches, and handle, are more than sturdy. You'd have to really abuse this toolbox to break something off on it.
One of the latch lock pins was bent during delivery by Amazon via UPS, I was able to bend it back with some pliers, but have to really push hard on the latch to the side to properly lock it now. I am concerned about the future integrity of this latch which was damaged in transit, so buyers beware!
When you put any kind of weight in the box, the wheels will bend and rub against the lower sides of the box, making the wheels drag.
Piece of crap!
I purchased this rolling tool box to organize the many tools and parts laying on the floor of my tool closet.
The 3-in-1 Rolling Workshop consists of a large box on the bottom with wheels, the yellow lid to the bottom which contains the small parts organizer and the black tool box on top with the long handle. I deducted one star for having to disassemble the whole thing to get to the small parts organizer, because this means I can’t just reach in and grab a nail when I want to hang a picture.
This tool storage box is roomy enough. I can store my drill, caulk gun and other larger necessities in the large bottom compartment. The top box has ample room for hammers, wrenches and such. The wheels are plenty large to make rolling the unit around easy and the side latches that hold the boxes together have a hole where you can insert a lock, as does the front latch on the top box. There is a small lift out black tray to hold frequently used items like screwdrivers.
Overall, I like this rolling workstation for the convenience of being able to roll my tools wherever I need them, and its large enough for my needs. The only con to me is that the small parts organizer isn’t more conveniently located. Otherwise, I highly recommend this.
