Product Description

This Medium size yarn swift is made of solid wood and finished by extra fine sanding (no toxic varnish fume). The Medium size can hold skeins up to 6-ft in circumference. It spins smoothly and makes yarn winding a fun job. The clamp-on base allows it to be firmly fixed at the edges of tables, chairs, benches, or any other convenient locations. It fits edges up to 1 3/4 Inch thick. The craftsmanship on this yarn swift is superior. We avoid wood pieces with scars or blemishes so that our yarn swifts are less vulnerable to breakage and more appealing aesthetically. The ends of metal tying wires are hidden into holes and will never hurt your hands or the yarn.

I have seen many a Swift and this is by far the most affordable. The craftsmanship reminds me of the days when people stood behind their work and would issue refunds if their work were found wanting. I would recomend this piece to anyone wanting a strong, hardworking swift.

Great product for the price! I was a little concerned that it might not be large enough for some of the skeins I bought, but it worked for all of them - from my worsted Malabrigo yarns to the fine strains from Knit Picks. The mechanism winds smoothly every time. I'm very happy with it.

I got this for my wife because she is an avid knitter and always brings home yarn skeins that need rolling up. And I was the holder of all those skeins as she prepared the yarn. When she told me about this amazing device that would take the place of my arms or the back of a chair, I went for it. She loves it. It works smoothly and easily and after we figured out how to work it and found something to attach it to, it has had regular use. She really has no complaints other than it doesn't attach to really thick tables so you need to find something thin to attach it to. The price was great - much less than at any yarn shop. We love this item and it entertains the cat.

After trying my local yarn shop's swift and ball winder, I knew I had to save up for such a setup. It's okay to wind by hand, but the swift (with a ball winder) is absolutely wonderful.

This one was much less expensive than elsewhere but it is good quality. I don't use it heavily, so I don't know how it would hold up with daily use, but it's certainly adequate for me!

I'm still using this swift! I'm still not a heavy user, but it's holding up well, and the cost was well worth it, IMO. (I bought it at a time when it was hard to justify.)

Ordered this yarn winder and was a bit of a worried that it would not work like it should, but spent the money and took the chance. The winder arrived today and I was not at all disappointed. The construction quality is excellent, smooth surfaces and fluid movement. I have a good number of hanks of merino wool and alpaca that needed to be wound and it took far too long to do it my hand, but this winder working in conjuction with my Boyle ball winder makes quick work of the job. Winding by hand took about 20 minutes, with the Swift Winder and the Boyle it now takes about two minutes to wind a full hank of speciality yarn. I have also rewound the partial skiens I have remaining from a project back into neat center pull balls, so no more partial skiens rolling about! I was a bit confused as to the sizing of the various winders offered, so opted for the 'medium'. The umbrella expansion style allows the winder to easily accept the standard hank or skien of yarn without any problem, and there is still room to expand further if needed.

I must also say that I was impressed with this Seller. When I ordered this winder I opted for the next day shipping for an additional fee. The following day I received an email saying that the item was back-ordered and would not ship 'next day' but would ship as soon as it was available. The next day shipping fee was immediately refuned without my even having to ask. The winder arrived the following day via FedEx at no additional cost. You cannot ask for more than that from anyone, but it certainly impressed me as to the quality of the Seller and their desire to have a satisfied customer base. Rest assured that I will again turn to this Seller for any additional products I might purchase.

If you are in the market for a winder I would highly recommend this one based on the quality and the Seller's professionalism. If you add a Boyle (or similar) automated ball winder you will think you have gone to yarn heaven!

When I initially received the item I was thrilled. Though when I started to wind, I realized the hanks were smaller than I wanted. I have to set the swift on the largest setting to wined. This causes the swift to wiggle back and forth while squeaking. There have been a few times the bolt holding up the arms has come loose in mid-hank. I have to then slowly re-group all of the yarn that has fallen off and try again.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this item - but it had more good reviews than negative - & I was determined NOT to hand wind anymore yarn!! What a great product - for the price! I've had absolutely no problems with it & it frees up more time for knitting, as oppossed to the FRUSTRATION of winding yarn by hand for hours. The ball winder is a very satisfactoy product, also

This wooden swift works great. It is adjustable to the size of your skein and you can lift it to various heights. I've been very pleased with it. As a serious knitter, that says a lot.
