Got done with this one awhile ago - now giving it the review!
Incredible book - though a warning, this is a hard core SciFi tale. Think Robert A. Heinlein, Neuromancer, that kind of thing. The intensity of Arthur C. Clarke, with an expanded universe found in the likes of Halo and Mass Effect.
It holds its strengths in world-building, action - and having a not-always-human-centered universe. It's not always going from A to B, but that's the way a place like this would be. So if you are a fan of books like Heir to the Empire, I'd recommend you check out Star Brigade: Resurgent - you'll have a lot of fun.
Enjoyable read and character development. Worth your time to read.
The other thing that’s pretty solid is the diversity in alien species, which sort of reminded me of another great sci-fi franchise, Mass Effect. Writing, characterization, plot, etc. were all solid.
All in all, Mr. Ekeke has a new fan of Star Brigade. Really good first in stallment.
Influences from Trek, Star Wars, and even Babylon 5 are felt, but none are overwhelming. Instead the reader is treated to a synthesis of these classic franchises. By the end, you will feel that the worlds explored, and the characters who dwell within them, are not only believable, but real.

I was awed at this author's imagination, and at his mind's workings. How he creates worlds. How he creates new words, exploring the in-between the lines -- and the behind-the-words! All in all a fascinating read, unputdownable, an amazing surprise at the quality of this indie author (despite a few very minor kinks that did not detract that much from the book for me). I liked the book so much that I didn't feel the hours go by, was annoyed every time I had to interrupt my reading, and got to my destination in next to no time (or so it seemed).
And now, to top it all, I've got withdrawal symptoms. Well done, C.C.Ekeke, you've got yourself and your fiction a new follower!
(review by Nina)
C. C. Ekeke also wrote a central character who was broken and was keeping it together purely for the sake of his young son yet as the novel went on we see the man he was before the events in the novel and that strength, courage and integrity is the basis for the core of the Star Brigade and every member of the unit, we can cheer for them without forsaking the simple premise forgotten by the major powers in the galaxy, some things are just wrong and need to be resolved.
A solid standalone scifi military adventure with the promise of more to come, recommended.
The characters are great, the settings are creative and the questions asked are worth answering. It has everything. Easy banter, antagonism, adventure, scope, invention and you feel like you grow along with the team. No matter your personality there is someone there for you.
An excellent read. I will definitely be reading more of Star Brigade.
