Evan Erickson and Seth Andrews grew up close friends until they time they were around nine years old. At that point, their father's, who were in the bagel business together had a falling out and they ended up opening competing bagel shops and severing ties between the families.
Now 20 years later, Seth is boudoir photographer and while he is fun and flirty on the outside, he carries a whole lot of guilt stemming from his family due to the fact he chose to go to college over going into the family bagel business. As for Evan, she's taken over running her family's bagel shop since her Dad had a health scare. She's hard working and full of determination, but a little lost since she'd much rather have chosen the path her work life took.
A food challenge competition show has come to town and both families are submitting their bagels and cream cheese for judging. Will this end up brining Evan and Seth together, which will in turn reunite the two families? Or will things go disastrously wrong and drive an even bigger wedge between the battling bagel joints?
This story was wonderful and you can't help but root for Seth and Evan. Seth is sweet, charming and hot and Evan is beautiful, caring and independent and their chemistry is noticeable immediately. I enjoyed how all of this played out, the role that their friends played and I also enjoyed the ups and downs they had to endure.
I highly recommend this entertaining tale!
This was a sweet, fun, and sexy read. Considering these are rival families with an ongoing 20 year feud, there wasn't as much angst or drama as I was expecting, which is a good thing!
I did feel bad for Evan, who felt like she was in a position where she had to keep the business going, and for Seth, who felt underappreciated for everything he did for his family. I loved that they both cared so much for their families though, that they were willing to put aside their wants and needs, especially Evan.
I've been rooting for these two since we first learned of their history. I was so happy to see them finally have their chance, because I knew it was meant to be! But my heart hurt thinking about all the years they missed out on, thanks to their parents, ugh! I liked the whole concept of them working together for the television show- I mean something had to happen to bring them together!
For having been apart for so long, I loved how easily Seth and Evan were able to pick right back up, almost as if no time had passed.
I wish I lived in Cliffton Heights so I could be a part of the rooftop crew!
Dylan and Rian have been doing the push/pull dance around each other for a bit. Neither seems confidant enough to go after the other and I’d even go as far as saying that , on the surface, it may even look like Dyaln is not remotely interested, but … no, he’s interested alright ;) If only they could get out of each other’s way, hmmmm? Lol *sigh* what a great read!!! I love everything about both Dylan and Rian and their journey! All it takes is a little competition in sight and Dylan is all in. FA.BU.LOUS!
This friend group is ridiculously entertaining and have made for one of the best group friend series that I have read! Although this book can most certainly be read all on its own, this group is involved with each other, and not just in the abstract, so it would be much more enjoyable for you if you read these from the beginning!
Evan and Seth's parents were best friends and business partners until something happened twenty years ago and put an end to it all including Evan and Seth's friendship, these best of friends were now made into enemies. The feud is still strong all these years later, mentioning the other's family name is like saying a curse. Now Evan and Seth find themselves in a position that they need to work together and hopefully convince their families that they can work together again so what better way to do that then to pretend that they are engaged.
I love the way Piper & Rayne always give us a story that we can sink our teeth into. This was a fun, steamy, and a bit of an emotional read that will have you rooting for Evan and Seth right from the very start..
THE ROOFTOP CREW SERIES follows a group of friends so I would suggest reading the series in the order they have been released, that being said you can definitely read this as a standalone if you wish to do so.

Evan and Seth are enemies but before that they were friends as children, then their families, who run rival bagel shops had a falling out. 20 years later Seth and Evan can't stand being anywhere near each other. Both have family obligations to the shops that they don't want and when a famous tv show runs a contest, maybe just maybe they can escape the family business but for that to happen they need to work together!
I loved Seth and Evan. Their chemistry and banter was so good!
Seth was so funny and so protective of Evan! Evan is dedicated to her family and the business her parents own, at the expense of her own dreams. She is strong, takes no nonsense and will always defend the ones she loves!
I loved catching up with the rest of the rooftop crew and after that sneak peak can not wait for Knox's book.
First, I thought that Seth and Evan were fantastic! I loved them apart--Seth is hilarious and I loved learning about his photography more, and Evan was so strong, and I loved getting to see more of her beyond just the family business! Their banter and snark was absolutely fabulous, as was their chemistry! I loved that we got to see a friendship reconnect...and I really loved seeing their relationship evolve into more, and it was wonderful seeing them fit as a couple into their group of friends, too! I also loved that we got to see quite a bit of family-time in this one since both Seth and Evan were close to their families...and I'm especially glad that we got lots of Mrs. Andrews (Seth's mom) because she always makes me laugh whenever she makes an appearance! :D
Overall, I thought that OUR STAR-CROSSED KISS was sweet, sexy, funny, and an absolute joy to read! I loved seeing Seth and Evan go from rivals to friends/allies to lovers, and I loved every moment of their story so, so much!

This book has everything!
I laughed so many times, thanks to Seth, I felt angst and I had tears in my eyes - sad and happy ones.
If you read the previous books in The Roof Top Crew Series you get to know Seth as one of the best friends who is making Boudoir photography for a living while hoping that he can make something different.
And we have Evan. She is working at her parents Bagel shop. This isn't her dream job but she is loyal to her family.
There is the feud. The feud between Seth's and Evan's families for 20 years now. They owned once a bagel shop together, but something happened and they parted away into two rival shops.
But the parting ways also meant that Seth and Evan aren't allowed to see each other anymore. They were best friends and then became enemies, but not by choice.
I loved the way they finally found together and I am happy for them - so, so happy!
Out of all the released Roof Top Crew books, this one is by far my favorite (closely followed by The Rival Roomies) and can highly recommend this book to you.
I kindly received an ARC for an honest review.
