No review of this song can be completely divorced from politics, unfortunately. Lately our national anthem has been derided and mocked by some. "Militaristic", they say. Actually, they say a whole lot of things. And you know what? That's okay. This IS the land of the free, after all. And home of the brave? Well, brave enough to let them mock all they want.

And that is why these guys did this song. Do I have it on my iPod? Yes I do, because it ROCKS! It is very listenable, even for those whose thing isn't rock/metal, but it's definitely into the rock category. If you're not convinced from the little preview, just look their page up on YouTube and listen to it for yourself.

But keep this page open. After you've heard it, come back here and buy the track. If you're still reading this review, I know that you will agree with me that these guys deserve it.

Do be sure also to check out Madison Rising, their self-titled first album. This track is unfortunately not on it, but if you like their rendition of our national anthem and agree with their reasons for making it, odds are you'll find the rest of their music to be to your liking as well.

Outstanding rendition of our inspiring national anthem. Respectfully done, unlike the efforts of many in the music industry doing their best to destroy morality and American culture. Madison Rising has updated the feel and fired the words with fresh patriotic fervor. The song uses the old melody as a framework for their own expression, but it's an expression that most true Americans can share. For me, it gives voice to the increasing frustration I have with fiddling politicians against the backdrop of a country in flames.

The new feel speaks to me of no more quietly accepting the destructive opinions and intentions of self-hating, anti-American, immoral people who just want to rule and force their godless will on a free country. That freedom was purchased at great cost, and this arrangement of our anthem reminds me of the patriots who fought wars against tyrants and died so I could listen and respond to its stirring themes. It reminds me that the war is not over. It reminds me not to take my freedom for granted. It helps energize me to get involved in the political process, continuing the fight against tyranny my country's forefathers started.

Buy the song. Buy an album if you can afford it. It is a small contribution to a big fight that we must continue to win. But it will pay big dividends in helping to fuel a zeal for pushing back against those who would destroy us.

I'm certainly not "into" rock music...but this transcends that genre. These guys need to be asked to sing at the next Super Bowl and maybe the next Presidential inauguration. The song is that good!!

Typically I'm a purist when it comes to the National Anthem, but this version beyond works for me. I'm eclectic in my music tastes, but love rock above all. When I heard that Madison Rising was going to do the Star Spangled Banner I was a bit concerned they'd rock it up too much and take away from the "respectful feel" of it. I should have known better, knowing the respect these guys have for our Constitution, our Military...and our National Anthem.

They pumped up the traditional parts, but stayed nearly pure in the vocals, but in a key that Dave Bray, the lead singer, could manage well, then a verse of just instrumental, again, rocked up, but not so much it takes away from the traditional feel, then a bit extra, updating the song, bringing it into the 21st century, RESPECTFULLY.

I'm subscribed to their youtube page, so saw the video for their rendition of the Star Spangled Banner as it was nearly out of the "gate" right before Memorial Day weekend. I was so pumped up excited after watching it, I had to watch it over and again and shared it over and again. I was biting at the bit, like many that watched it, for it to come out to download. My children (age range 10-20) all wanted it on their mp3 players. Since when do CHILDREN ask to have the National Anthem on their mp3's?! This is by far my favorite rendition, it gets my blood pumping ready to take on the day, push up my sleeves and Stand UP for America, again. It's not a solemn version at all, it's a celebratory version. One that should be played at events that are celebrating America and being American.

So, simply put, THIS is the version of the Star Spangled Banner on my children's and my mp3's because it not only ROCKS, but it RESPECTFULLY ROCKS! I ENJOY listening to it every single day.

If you've not checked out Madison Rising's other songs, do so, they are GREAT!

I am old, a Baby Boomer, a former Army Medical Specialist, and a female. I love my country and what it has stood for in the past and what it stands for now. AND...I just want to say that this old lady thinks you guys have nailed the best version of our beloved National Anthem for the 21st Century, better than any current person or band could possibly do, or has done. Your music is right on and the video that comes with it brought tears to my eyes. I need a CD of this but I don't seem to find it. I don't have a MP3 player or even know what it is but, I do have several CD players in my home. Are you able to direct me to a CD. Remember, I'm old and probably missed the CD offer somewhere.
