A weird decision, to unite those 2 stories to 1 book. Not only they are hardly related, they are very different in nature. "Trill" is the epilogue of "Unity", the story after the story. It is action packed and it is full of major revelations. In contrast, "Bajor" is the beginning of a new story. It is calm and contemplative and romantic, and has very few plot moves.
Sticking them together doesn't work, so I'm going to refer to them as 2 separate books for the sake of the review.

A small warning, before we start: if you have not read "Avatar"->"Unity" arc (lookup "DS9 Relaunch" if you're not already familiar with it) you will have a hard time, in my opinion, figuring what's going on in here and why are characters acting the way they do. At least in the "Trill" book.

Trill: ****
===========
Ezri and Julian head to Trill homeworld to learn more about the parasites' trail of destruction and to stop the turmoil in Trill.

The characters: the book focuses mostly on these two, but there are a few new characters as well. I think that this was a solid story for Ezri, a nice development for the character, who is becoming more complex and interesting in the books.

The plot: this book was a classic Stark Trek 'where no man has gone before' + DS9 politics and intrigues. A great combination. We finally got to explore the mysterious world of Trill, with all its secrets and conspiracies. I really liked the ideas that the writers presented, about the symbionts and the hosts, their history, their biology, their mythology, their culture. Fascinating stuff. It really should have been an episode of DS9.

The writing: all in all it was good, but some moves in the plot felt forced.

After reading the first book, about Cardassia and Andor, I was a bit disappointed, did not really care for both stories. But luckily with this book it's quite the opposite. Very interesting stories, a lot of my favourite characters come by, it was a great read. The only I did not find that interesting was in the Bajor section, the Rena chapters, although that became better with each following Rena chapter.

Attention grabbing. I couldn't put it down. Now I am going to buy the next in line to keep following this story and to stay in touch with the characters I love.
