While on a mission to track down Deathbird,a member of the alien Shi'ar race, the X-men find themselves traveling through a portal leading to an alternate reality, one that just happens to be home to James T. Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise, now orbiting the planet where Kirk was forced to kill his friend Gary Mitchell, driven mad with power upon receiving near-omnipotent mental abilities(from an episode of the original series).
Writer Scott Lobdell(Angel:Only Human)is definitely in top form here, while artists Marc Silvestri,Billy Tan,Anthony Winn and David Finch provide some of the most eyecatching artwork ever seen in a comic. This will definitely please both Star Trek and X-Men fans!
The JLA would make more sense to crossover with StarTrek (Kirk+Superman, Batman+Spock) so as odd of an idea that this was, the execution was cleverly done and it has that great comic book art (none of that BruceTimm funny toons). Star Trek fans will love it automatically as StarTrek recieves high quality art from Silvestri and Xmen fans would enjoy it because Silvestri's on the ball. An odd trivia fact: Patrick Stuart (Capt. Picard) is the leader of the Star Trek Ship and in those awful movies he was also the leader of the Xmen! Picard seems to be the missing link between StarTrek and Xmen, so if you decide to own this comic book go and try to get him to sign it, lol.
