I also have Star Wars ABC and find that to be a little confusing because a letter like F is used for Force when it's a picture of Yoda and Luke Skywalker and my son can't grasp that concept but with 123, there is no mistaking that! If this book is interesting to you-Do or do not, there is no try! (Also known as-just buy it!)
As other reviews have mentioned, the numbers covered in this book are 1-10 and 25, 50, 100. While it is pretty neat to see 100 storm troopers on a single page and get a visual of that large of a number, I could see how jumping to 25, 50, 100 might confuse a child learning to count. One page also shows scary creatures from the movies (Rancor, Wampa, those 3 creatures from the arena in Attack of the Clones, etc.) which might scare some kids. Another page shows 25 aliens (mostly minor/unnamed humanoid characters) but a sensitive child might be scared of some of them too.
I'd highly recommend this book if you're looking to educate your kids on Star Wars characters.
Keep in mind, this is not a story or anything in that regards, it literally is a picture of characters and a 1 sentence description. There are also a number of characters in here with no description. For instance, it will say here are 8 villains...but doesn't tell you who the villains are, that is really my only thing I can say negative about the book. It's solid quality and will hold up for years to come.
I might sound like an over-protective Mama, but I don't need to show one more scary thing to my kid that he imagines seeing under his bed or in his closet at night. No, I haven't shown him the Star Wars movies yet, but he knows the basic characters and stuff from coloring books and what not.
Anyway, just be prepared if you're buying this for a preschooler, there are some scary images in here, like the creatures and villans.
The pages in the book are as follows:
1 - Grand Master (Yoda!)
2 - Sides of the force (Dark/Light)
3 - friends
4 - lightsabers
5 - X-Wing Fighters
6 - Ewoks
7 - bounty hunters (scary picture alert for little ones)
8 - scary creatures (major scary picture alert for little ones!!!)
9 - starships
10 - villians (scary picture alert again)
25 - aliens (eh, not really scary as much as different)
50 - battle droids (gun alert for little ones!)
100 - stormtroopers
Yeah, maybe I'm over protective, but I kinda wish I hadn't bought this book. Or that I would have read it alone before showing my kid what arrived at the front door in the Amazon box. Oh well.
