The Pros: IT'S MASSIVELY HUGE! Probably the biggest and best scaled Star Wars vehicle ever made and it's the next best thing to owning the bank-breaking Master Replicas Studio Scale prop replica costing thousands more. The cockpit now accommodates up to 4 action figures and illuminates when one of 3 different buttons are pressed that make the "hyperdrive," "liftoff" and "flyby" sounds while the hyperdrive glows a cool blue hue. The interior playset areas have been expanded to include a medical bay to recreate Luke's rescue from Cloud City. The landing ramp deploys with the touch of a button and slowly descends while making hydraulic sounds. The holochess table illuminates when one of 3 buttons are pressed with over 20 sounds and phrases from "A New Hope" including lines like "Let the Wookie win."
The Cons: The landing gear absolutely suck! They do not stay on at all. I tried every combination I could by carefully aligning the shapes with the groves and none of them would stay on and easily fall over. As Luke would say, "What a piece of junk!" I am probably going to permanently glue them on though I am hesitant to ruin such a relatively expensive collectible. Also, the plastic material is made out of that awful soft rubbery plastic that Hasbro has been using on everything it has been producing for the last few years for child safety reasons.Read more ›
I like it because it looks great on my desk; a great nod to my childhood memories. However, as a toy for a child, it's probably not so good. Frankly as its quite big, and I think would be hard to hold for them to run around the house holding it to make it "fly".
Again, it's HUGE, and the small detailed pieces can be broken easily, such as the chairs in the cockpit, and the landing gear.
So, if you are looking for an incredible Falcon reproduction for 3.5 figures, it's a no-brainer and worth the high price in my opinion. If it is for a child to be used as a toy (as intended) be prepared for broken and missing pieces.
My son loves playing with this toy. It has become the stage for all his star wars play. The sounds and lights are a nice touch. There is a lot of areas to explore.
One problem is the bottom landing gear don't stay on. I suggest tossing them. It works fine without them.
All in all, great toy if you want spoil your kid a little.
Being from the 80's I remember Hasbro producing GI Joe vehicles that could take the worst punishment from a kid. It seems in the 2000's that Hasbro uses a rubbery plastic that just is cheap. It feel like a Halloween mask material, but harder. Almost like cartilage-like material. I personally don't like it- I hate it. I loved the tough & hard plastic old GI Joe vehicles were made of. You could drop it off your roof and it wouldn't even dent.
I like the detail of the toy- every hose and button and bolt can be seen on the exterior. I like how you can recreate scenes from the movie, like the training ball that Luke fights is in the space ship, the secret hatches they hide in etc. I also like the original sound effects and phrases from the movie. It has a bunch of cool lights on it, and the shooting missiles are fun too.
I hate the material it is made of, and the landing gear annoys me. I don't understand why Hasbro would sell a 150 dollar toy with such bad landing gear. I super glued it on, hopefully it will hold up. I also hate the hatch material, like when you lift up the cockpit, the top windshield always falls off. It is so annoying. I wish they used better plastic.
Anyways, my son loves it, and that is what matters most. He is happy, so it is a win with him. I just hope Hasbro reads some reviews and changes how they produce their toys in the future.
OK- after having this toy for a couple weeks, I am seriously never going to buy a Hasbro product again!Read more ›
Coolest feature, the boarding ramp. If you had the old Falcon, this will make you squeal with delight when you see it.
My ONLY complaints are these.
The landing gear is, as C3PO would say, "not entirely stable". And for $150, can we PLEASE not have to apply stickers? Hasbro, there has got to be someone you could pay to do this. As usual, a couple of my stickers ended up slightly skewed...and (even worse) I ended up scratching the cockpit canopy with the X-acto knife I was using to get the stupid stickers wedged into the areas my fingers couldn't fit into. Now, every time I look at my pretty new toy all I see is that darn scratch. Is there a place I can go to get a replacement canopy?
Overall though, this is a GREAT toy. If you're a fan, and have space for this gargantuan thing, BUY IT!!!
