If you are a collector (as I am), you will probably end up purchasing this set. But to be honest, I'm a little disappointed in Hasbro's choice to release this. First of all, no one except for die-hard Star Wars fans even know who any of these droid are. There are many other more-popular droids that could have been included in the set. At the very least, they could have included R5-D4 and the Power Droid, both of which were in A New Hope for a few seconds. Hasbro is really limiting their market by choosing the droids that they did.
Which leads me to my biggest problem with this set. The whole thing smells of a money-grab by Hasbro. The molds for these droids were the same ones used for previously released figures. That means all Hasbro did was slap a new paint scheme on these, throw them in a box, and is now selling them as an "exclusive." Add that to the fact that these droids aren't even well-known makes me think that Hasbro is trying to take advantage of collectors without putting any effort into their products.
Personally, I can barely justify paying the CURRENT RETAIL PRICE AT TOYS-R-US, let alone the markup that third party sellers are trying to get for these droids. If you decide that you absolutely must have this set, I would bet money that it will be in bargain-bins in a few months and you will be able to save yourself a lot of money.
