Ryder Windham is a former editor of Star Wars comics and has written more then fifty Star Wars books, including Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Forceand The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader. He is also and instructor and the Certificate Advisor for the Comic and Sequential Art Certificate Program at Rhode Island School of Design Continuing Education.

Peter Vilmur is the co-author of The Star Wars Vault and The Star Wars Poster Book, both written with Stephen J. Sansweet. He has written for Star Wars Insider magazine, StarWars.com, and IndianaJones.com, and is currently an editor at Lucas Online.

I didn't think I would like "The Complete Vader" and never intended to buy it until I browsed it in the bookstore. It is not what I expected. There are replica posters, stickers, and script pages throughout. It reminds me of the "Star Wars Vault," though less extensive.

The story of Vader includes his initial incarnations, the evolultion of his character, and the casting and development of the young Anakin. It even includes the backstory behind the ostracization of David Prowse. Until now, I've only read innuendos.

Included are details about merchandising and toys, but that did not interest me nearly as much as the photos, inserts, and Vader's story itself.

This is a book that is sure to please the adult Star Wars fan. I am happy to add it to my collection.

If this book being about the Dark lord didnt catch your attention already it really is a diamond in the rough. First of all the book is massive, Its ideal for a coffee table book. The Photos and pictures in the book are as crisp as can be. One thing I want to point out however is this is a book about the filming and merchandising of Darth Vader. This is not a book on the history of Darth Vader himself. Its a great addition to any Vader fan's collection.

when i saw this book on here, my jaw dropped and i had to have it. waited by the door and it finally came. it is a big book, nice hardcover with vader from front to back. just amazing pictures and details of how vader was born and up til today. the concept photos and background of how he began is amazing. totally changes your outlook on star wars as a whole. plus amazing extras such as hand written script of luke i am your father scene, pop out posters, just too many extras to write down. if you love star wars and the dark lord then you must have this. who cares what the price is, just click order and wait by the door til it comes. thank you for your time and may the force be with you.......

The Complete Vader is a great read for any Star Wars fan. Authors Ryder Windham and Pete Vilmur did a great job of keeping the book fun to read and avoiding a dry historical account. The book has lots of fun facts about Vader and Star Wars. Yet there is a lot more to the book than the story when you take into account the tons of beautiful artwork and photos that are included. From Ralph McQuarrie prints and sketches, to behind-the-scenes pictures of the actors and Vader promotional shoots, there is a lot to enjoy. For collectors, a lot of Vader merchandise is also covered. On top of it all, there's also a lot of fun interactive elements such as fold out pictures, hidden pockets with loose articles, and even copies of film cells. Definitely a book that's worth the money.

Who will ever forget the first time they saw Darth Vader. Having grown up in the 70's as a child, Star Wars was the ultimate movie experience, and Vader was the ultimate villain. I was lucky enough to pre-order this book and receive the slipcased version of this hardcover masterpiece!!!

Though the price is not cheap, there are myriad details, inserts, unfolding pages and pictures that add a lot of flavor to this book on Darth Vader. The book goes into some substantial detail about the popular cultural reception of Darth Vader, the vast amount of Vader-inspire products, toys, serials, and toys. It is a large coffee-table book, that should be good for a great deal of fun and reflection.

Unfortunately another average after-market book on Star Wars. A lot of the material has been seen before and has been around for decades, whether in the original " The Making Of Star Wars [VHS ]" documentary or more recently in magazines such as the Star Wars Insider. I never found it a particularly satisfying read, few of the articles really pique any great interest because its been covered a million times already. It doesn't really add much to what most Star Wars fans already know, I think there needs to be more quality than quantity in these books.
