5.0 out of 5 stars What is thy bidding
By Sierra 947 on September 19, 2019
Ok, this Hyperreal figure of Darth Vader is awesome.. it's almost like a miniature Hot Toys. Here's the breakdown.

Molding/Sculpt Five Stars
The sculpt on the chest box, belt, belt box are on point. the colors are painted well, the under suit is a rubber molding with the texture in it. the molding of the helmet is done wonderful and painted correctly. all and all the molding is rubber and some plastic parts.

Articulation Four Stars
The articulation of Lord Vader is great, but theres a few drawbacks. The figure is a metal skeleton, and the suit is rubber with some plastic parts. the belt, chest box, shin guards. and boots are plastic. All of these dont hinder articulation, what does is the rubber suit. The joints on the metal skeleton are tight enough, but the rubber suit adds a lot of resistance. The wrist joints move up and down, adding swivel to allow left and right movement, the elbows are double jointed BUT I had a hard time getting the upper joint to move, there is a bicep swivel with small indentations. The shoulder lifts up almost all the way, but the shoulder pads get in the way. The waist joint is hindered by the chest box, but it is there and allows the swivel left and right, as well as a slight tilt. The legs are hindered most by the crotch plate and the rubber suit due too how thick it is, but despite this it gets great range. As you can see I got him kneeling.

Accessories Five Stars
The accessories that are with Lord Vader are many.. He comes with a stand, that replicates the cloud city metal catwalk. The pegs are under the stand, there are three pegs, and four peg holes on the stand. There is a clip as well under the stand which will allow you to connect the base to others (when released). Lord Vaders lightsaber is well sculpted and painted, though on mine there is extra silver paint bleeding, the blade is able to be removed, and the hilt added to Lord Vaders belt... BUT the hook that holds the hilt is a soft rubber and makes it hard to put the hilt on.. and I fear that since the hook bends and flexes so easily that it may break off. The dark lord comes with many hands.. Two Sets and a few force use hands. The sets are Fists, and Lightsaber holding hands. A Pointing finger hand, Force Choke, Holding hand for the lightsaber to hold it at an angle, and the best one a Force Deflect hand with the force deflect accessory. Darth Vader Cape, and hip skirts are fabric, weighted wonderful. Do be careful the stitching on the Cape is slowly unraveling on my copy, and I dont know why. It never got caught on anything.

Though all in all I think this Hyperreal line is worth it, and #1 Darth Vader is a great addition to any star wars collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive
By E. Morneau on May 13, 2020
This figure is great! Figures larger than a 1/12 scale run the risk of having that "dolly" look, but they really pulled it off, and the proportions are excellent. This Vader is large and imposing. The rubber material that the body is made of is very interesting. You think it would bunch up unnaturally when posing, but the rubber doesn't seem to be attached to the armature inside, and pieces shift where they need to go without much issue. The joints are stiff, but move with ease if you apply enough pressure, and he is surprisingly stable for his size and weight. Hasbro included some pegs for his feet if you want to put him in some dynamic poses. Those store under the included base, which is a nice touch. Also included is a clip to attach two bases together (Luke comes with one, as well.)

I knocked a star off because of Hasbro cutting corners as usual. As others have mentioned, the painted details on this figure are on the sloppy side. You would think it would be easier to get the paint lined up perfectly on the molding of a figure with larger details, but Hasbro still can't get it quite right. Mine also has some rough edges and small knicks on the molding of the mask and helmet. These blemishes don't ruin the figure, but it's not something you expect or are happy to see on what is clearly designed and marketed as a premium figure.

I don't think this Hyperreal line will gain enough traction to continue, but at least we have Luke to go with him, and together they make a really nice display.

4.0 out of 5 stars A One Of A Kind & Stellar DARTH VADER Figure From Hasbro
Reviewed in India on August 17, 2020
Hello there.
Hope you're all well.
In this review, we'll have a detailed look at Hasbro's 'Star Wars Black Series : Hyperreal Darth Vader'.

[Very very long and elaborated review ahead.]

Let me mention a few things before we start. The pictures I will be attaching, are of my first piece, which I bought from Funcorp, back in February.
Recently, bought a second piece from Amazon, and the box came pretty damaged because Amazon didn't bother to give even a single layer of bubble wrap. Fortunately, there were not any damages to the figure.

|| Intro and Production Description ||

This figure is coming from a completely new line of Black Series, which is Hyperreal. The figure stands at about 9 inches tall and is in the 8 inch scale. Hence, it is actually a stand alone figure and an Adult Collectible. Absolutely not a toy.
However, there's been no further announcement in the Hyperreal line, after their Hyperreal Luke Skywalker. The line might have been cancelled.

Anyways, this Darth Vader comes in a big stylised boxed packaging, which has a flap system, upon opening which, the figure and accessories can be seen through a transparent plastic window. Hence, packaging looks very nice.
Inside the package, comes ; 1 Main Figure, 7 Extra Hands, 1 Lightsaber with Removable Blade, 1 Effect Piece and 1 part of the Bespin Base.
The figure is actually made up of soft goods, instead of traditional plastic figures.

Let's talk about the Pros and Cons of it, now.

|| Pros ||

1) Very good engineering and aesthetics of the figure.

2) Body proportions are very good and quite accurate to what the actor's (David Prowse's) body was under the suit, in Empire Strikes Back.

3) Articulation is very good and most importantly, it is seamless !

4) Adding to seamless articulation, it's actually articulated through a Steel Endoskeleton, which is a great feature. The endoskeleton is allowing a very good range of motion and a decent structural strength to the figure.

5) Quality of soft goods on this figure, is no doubt good and of high quality. The quality of fabric, is definitely great, since it repels dirt as much as possible. The silicon suit used, is also pretty high grade silicon. It's very soft and squishy, yet very stretchable and fairly strong. I guess, it'll last for a decent span of years, if maintained well.
There are many people saying it's a rubber suit, but that's not a right claim.

6) The detailing work is pretty neat. Especially the details of the creases in the silicon suit, in order to replicate the leather appearance, is superb. The headsculpt is also very accurate to what was shown in the movie.

7) Includes some really good amount of Accessories. Comes with Darth Vader's Lightsaber, quite many interchangeable pairs of hands and a nice deflection/impact effect.

8) Some nice touch ups are ; the glossy helmet, glossy shin guards, the black chain below the neck, the metallic looking flexible chest and shoulder armors and the inclusion of the Bespin base part.

|| Cons ||

1) Paint apps are good in this one, but the paints used, isn't. Hasbro generally gives quite durable paints on figures.
But, the paints are very weak on the switches and parts of the Control Panel of the suit in the torso and in parts of the belt. They're chipping and smudging off with just some scratching or carelessness. This is a bummer, especially in a premium figure.

2) There's a problem with the texture of the surface of the mask part of the head. The texture is uneven. Some areas are very glossy, while some areas are matte.

3) Lack of an alternate head. Well, he wasn't fully unmasked in ESB movie, so it's understandable why Hasbro hasn't given one completely Unmasked head.
Also, the fixed helmet is slightly better, because just a single head with detachable helmet causes problems while posing.
Hence, what Hasbro should've given is, another alternate head where the helmet is detachable and the mask is still on, while back portion of the head is out and visible.

4) The glossy black layer on the shin guards is actually chipping off in some pieces. This might be simply due to some impactful scratching or rubbing or maybe due to exposure to high heat all of a sudden or at the meanest, a random QC issue. Just be a bit careful with that.

| Important Tips |

• Please be very gentle with it, since it's an Adult Collectible. Not a toy and isn't meant to be manhandled. Hence, handle with care.

• Keep the main figure away from hot and moist areas at all costs. Store in a cool and dry place.

• If you don't have the option of temperature control (AC), then you shall find a fairly cool and dry place of your house and keep it there, in a custom box, unless you plan to display it.

• For the box, you may find a sturdy box and pad the inner walls with hard synthetic sponge ; then put 2 small or 1 big sachet of Silica Gel inside and keep the main figure inside.

• If you wish to display it, try to display it at any of the suitable yet, cool places or your house. Get one air tight acrylic case and keep the figure inside it, along with 1 or 2 sachets of Silica Gel.

•• Be very careful, not to stretch the joints excessively or try extreme poses even when you feel there's already too much stretch in the suit. That may end up in a torn suit.
The stretching is a bit limited in the crotch area while a leg split and in the butterfly joints of shoulder area.

• I will suggest not to pay 7999 for it, unless there isn't any other option and/or you want it desperately.
If you can pick it up below 6000, it'll be surely a worthy deal.

|| Final Verdict ||

We've found out many pros and some considerable cons. Also, I've provided with some tips, which I believe, will help you.

It's a collectible item, anyway. Thus, we'll have to be certainly more careful than we're with any other typical toy figure.

Calculating all sides, this figure gets a 8/10 from me. Hence, I generously recommend it.

Thanks for taking your valuable time to read this long review.

Take care and stay safe, stay healthy.

I have been happier to unpack an amazon delivery. This is the best ever gift that will go in my Star Wars collection with packaging still intact.
For the first time, I’ve received a collectible box from Amazon that’s in pristine condition.
