This book is just incredible. I love that it had its story to tell and it ends once it's completed and doesn't drag on just to sell books. It perfectly bridges the gap between the Vader of New Hope that's powerful but falls in line to Tarkin to the Vader of Empire who is the unquestioned master of everyone but the Emperor. It introduces incredible new characters, particularly Doctor Aphra who would go on to have her own series but works so well here. She's used to give the reader a focal point so that Vader can still be powerful and mysterious. It has some incredible action set pieces, and the art by Salvador Larocca is masterful. I had the trades but I love this series so much that I had to add the hardcover omnibus to my collection. If you haven't read it yet, this is a must buy

These comics are some top-notch Star Wars. Vader is menacing, cruel, clever, and totally bad@ss, and the adventures he has are filled with action and guile. This book also features some really great characters such as Black Krrsantan and introduces the amazing Dr. Aphra and the hilarious Triple-Zero, who answers the question, "What if C-3PO was a sadistic homicidal maniac?"

Loads of fun, it really scratches that Star Wars itch. I could not put it down, 10/10.

Firstly Amazon delivered this product speedily and in excellent condition as hoped so many thanks there, now onto the book itself. The story starts with Vader in Palp’s bad books because the Death Star just blew up and Vader is more or less the lone survivor leaving no one else to take the blame, it progresses to encompass Vader’s introduction to Dr Aphra and their schemes and introduces a few short lived adversaries for Vader to crush along the way. This is however what reduces this story to 4 Stars for me, these characters feel very much like comic book characters to me (I realise they are) but it sort of becomes exactly what it is, a Marvel Comic rather that an expansion of the Star wars canon and feels less genuine for that. In short it’s great because it’s Vader, but the later prequel ’Dark Lord of the Sith’ series is better, more compelling and feels more like genuine Star Wars, in my opinion anyway. Still, it’s fun and interesting enough and should and no doubt will be picked up by most Star Wars fans. May the Force be with you.
