But enough of that. Let's dive into the HGH REPUBLIC.
So, a new era that's basically the prequel to the whole Star Wars franchise. Honestly, not a huge fan of that approach. We have a pretty solid idea of where things will fall into place for the franchise. (What was stopping Disney from setting this 200 years after TROS?) You still would have had some interesting cameos like seeing a 250-year-old Grogu, Rey's legacy to uphold the Skywalker surname, Finn (and possibly Rey's) offspring, etc... I mean, the possibilities are endless... I'm 100% positive that there will be some fun surprises and epic moments, but again, this era is on rails no matter what happens.
This comic was just all right. Nothing spectacular. It sets up some interesting new characters for this era so I'm giving them a wide benefit of the doubt. Keeve is an interesting character (not to mention she shares a name with one of the Lost Twenty, Jedi Masters who left the Order like Dooku). Don't know if Keeve is that specific master, but it's an interesting dynamic to look forward to.
As for the serialized story portrayed here, it's was pretty basic when it comes to Jedi adventures. I liked the ending and seeing the Jedi in their element. I'm looking forward to the next issues, but I might wait a while for this comic series to accumulate to dive back into it.
Now that that's out of the way: this comic rules. It's ties in heavily to Light of the Jedi acting as almost a mirror to some events we witnessed in that book. The issue focuses on Keeve Trennis and her master Sskeer, the latter of the two having a minor role in the novel, and follows her on her path to become a Jedi Knight. We get a look at quite a few new and familiar Jedi, which will undoubtedly continue through this series. The comic also seems to be setting up new threats for the era, which in conjunction to the Nihl in Light of the Jedi makes this time period even more compelling. If you're at all interested give it a read, I don't think you will be dissapointed.
Keeve is a fun character. I really like how outgoing and authentic she is. Her comments and her overall vivacious streak kept me engaged throughout the book.
As did her Jedi trial which she thought she had failed but perhaps didn't...
I enjoyed getting to know Keev and her Master better (a cool Master and Padawan pairing for sure) and the connections to Light of the Jedi were cool.
To me, it wasn't on the level with Light of the Jedi, but I've subscribed to the series on my Kindle so I'll get the new ones as they are published and keep up to date on what's going on.
Out of five stars, I'd give it three and a half. Solid and enjoyable but not rising to the level of spectacular. Best enjoyed as a side dish to the entree of Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule.
My only ‘complaint’ is that I want to know so much about these new characters NOW... but since the story has only just begun, I’ll just have to patiently wait for future installments in order to get to know them better.
The art and coloring is also fantastic in this comic, which is every bit as important as the writing, since it too helps helps in telling the story!

This comic I devoured it kept me interested. A new insight into the Jedi, I'm booked and want to find out the next one.
I'm very excited to see what's going to come in the next issue.
