The story is interesting, but nothing ground shaking. It picks up at the last moments of the Battle of Endor. In The Force Awakens, we are introduced to Poe Dameron, who is described as the best starfighter pilot in the Resistance. This book features Poe's parents (and refers to Poe as a child). His mother was an A-Wing pilot at the Battle of Endor. Poe's father was a commando following General Solo on the moon of Endor, tasked with taking down the shield generator that protects the Death Star II. The Duros pilot L'ulo also appears. He is Shara's (Poe's mother) Flight Leader. Later, L'ulo will fly under her son, Poe Dameron, as a member of Black Squadron.
The single-issue story that focuses on C-3PO is also included in this hardback, and the story is a little gem. I smiled when I read it. Remember in The Force Awakens that 3PO appears with a red arm? This story tells how the droid obtained it.
It's a good read all around.
