You need to handle with care, only pick up from the bottom and I'm pretty sure the thing is going to shatter if it's ever dropped.
I do like the stupid thing, but for $10 it should feel a bit more durable and not come apart so easily. This is basically the quality of a $1 kitchen timer. You are paying $10 simply because it looks like R2D2.
Also ever since the head came off the first time, it no longer dings when the timer runs out, it dings roughly 1 minute early; making it useless for precision timing. I need to add a minute to whatever I'm timing and it's still only sort of accurate.
I've read some complaints about the performance of the timer, but thank God my Grandma (RIP) told me how to use this kind of timers. You must make all the turn of the head and go counterwise to the desired amount of time and that's all. It works and works fine. I compared it with a digital timer Kitchen Aid and it has good precision.
Complaints... man, it should have been electronic and R2D2 should yell at you when the time is up, with the familiar sound of this beloved little astrodroid.
Looks great, works fine and certainly it should be electronic. It is a good purchase. Recommended.

Disappointed, luckily the recipient loves Stars Wars so much they haven't mentioned it. (I live with them)
