I love the movie but this gets a one star because it is a lie. It says theatrical version. This is not the theatrical version it is the altered version where they added in scenes and changed music. I already have this version on dvd. I bought this only because it said theatrical version. I hate the changes to the movie and just want to watch it the way it was. Don't buy this if you want the unchanged version or you are wasting your money.

Not the Original Theatrical Release
Verified purchase
Love this film (all of them actually) but went after this version under the impression that this was the original Theatrical Release without the added CGI effects. Honestly, most of the additions in the Original Trilogy don't bother me EXCEPT for the added female singer alien in Jabba's palace in ROTJ.

Please Disney and/or Lucas, give us a version of ROTJ without that singer in the film please as it is so cringe-worthy and tasteless. I understand a lot of the CGI has been added for comic relief or to entice younger viewers, but that singer is an affront to everything right and good in this world. Please remove it, I don't care about any other changes just please, please, please remove the singer!

I am embarrassed to watch this version of the film (which I so dearly love) with my girlfriend, friends and family as they will surely think something is wrong with me for liking a film with such a gross character in it.

This is why I gave this product 4 Stars instead of 5.

Thank you for reading.

Not the real theatrical release
Verified purchase
This is not the real, original theatrical release. If you're good with all the CGI, you'll still enjoy the movie; otherwise the CGI will annoy you mercilessly.

Not the original
Verified purchase
This is NOT the version released in theaters. This is the edited version with Hayden Christiensen!
The quality of the film is excellent, but if I wanted the edited version, I would have asked for it.
This just pissed me off

I was so disappointed. The extra scenes added by George Lucas were asinine! I cannot even comprehend what he was thinking when he ruined a masterpiece. Jabba's palace has an extra CGI scene where the band is singing. Totally unnecessary. I had the privilege of showing the Star Wars series to someone who had never seen any of them. Even she looked at me and said, wow! that was really out of place! I had to explain how the original didn't have that. I hope Disney releases the original cuts. On the plus side? The remaster is brilliant. The color and surround sound is amazing. I wish Lucas would have just cleaned it up and released it. To be fair, some of the extras Mr. Lucas added were very cool in my opinion. They fit in seamlessly, add to the film, and they are almost unnoticeable. However, these huge changes he made, like the aforementioned Jaba band scene were uncalled for.

Not What I Expected
Verified purchase
I only bought this Limited Edition because it was advertised to contain both the original release and the extended digital release. It only contains the extended digital release.

Bulls*** CG version
Verified purchase
I love Return of the Jedi, always have... but this version has the ridiculous and unnecessary CG sequences especially at Jabba's palace (that atrocious singing sequence) and the young Anakin "spirit" at the end, which totally ruined the whole movie in my opinion. I wish Amazon gave you a choice of buying this one or the original remastered version.

4K UHD Neon Color Pallet Glitch
Verified purchase
This review is specifically for streaming the 4K UHD version on Prime. The color pallet's WAY off. I'm not sure what's wrong with it. A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back both look fine streaming in 4K UHD with HDR over Prime. But, for some reason, Return of the Jedi has funked up colors. I've checked it in 4K through the Apple TV app and Disney+ app on my same TV. Both those services stream it fine. There's something wrong with the file on Amazon's end.
