Belive it or not EA has green lighted additional content at no cost to be released in December 2020. They are adding an additional ship for each side as well as modules and a new location. Items from the Mandalorian tv series have already been added. This is a most welcome change from the standard EA practices. For these reasons I have changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars.
The flight controls are pretty terrible even after customizing them, calling it a sim at any point is dishonest. Getting used to it and having them be ‘right’ are not the same.
The story mode is okay, the tired trope of an Imperial defecting is the main macguffin, and you switch back and forth between factions.
This game is really meant for online play, like BF1 and 2. Maps are okay, nothing great and a little small. Depending on the difficulty setting your ship can bounce off of ships and debris taking some damage which seems odd.
Overall the game has good and bad, I don’t see much longevity to this game nor anything close to the depth and variety that BF2 (as maligned as that game was...most of it deservedly so even though it improved with age)
Without the Star Wars universe attached to it it would be a real bottom feeder game but because it is in universe it gets a solid two stars, a genial time waster that will be shelved the moment something new comes along.
this game is not bad, but is not worth it a that price point, and is definetly not a good ps4 game, id rather wait for the pc price to go down and get it along with a flight stick.
ships are very hard to control, and the story sucks, maybe if it didint had the star wars name in it would be passable, but you can see by their aesthetic and character choices, this is not a star wars story, and again, the star wars curse, nobody know how to treat this franchise.
maybe next time ..
