I almost didnt give it to him.
The book's art is amazing. It mixes art from comics, cartoons, games and movie stills to piece together the story of the Star Wars universe from the time of the Old Republic (Tales of the Jedi and The Old Republic timeline) trough the Legacy timeline. It provides a quick glance at the evolution of the different conflict, and it collects everything from the animated serioes, movies, most important comic books, books, and video games.
It also includes a section on the production of the movies and towards the end, there is a section dedicated to how the Star Wars memorabilia and products evolved since the late 70s.
You dont really have to be a die hard Star Wars fan to appreciate this book. Needless to say, my friend loved it.

The only disappointment for me is the lack of any extra pages in the 'A New Era' section (dedicated to the stories that take place after Return of the Jedi). This means there is no mention of the events in either the Legacy of the Force or the Fate of the Jedi novel series, presumably because of a shortage of pictures required for the 'visual' element of this guide. Aside from this, the book is great for anyone with an interest in Lucas' six films and the hundreds of writers and artists who have built upon his initial vision.
