From the Manufacturer
Imperial players can add a lethal new star fighter to their X-Wing squadrons with the TIE Interceptor Expansion Pack. The finest mass-produced star fighter of its time, the TIE interceptor excels at dogfighting thanks to its heightened maneuverability, increased speed, and four wing-mounted laser cannons that easily allow it to outgun its predecessors. The TIE interceptor brings more to the table, though, than just its armaments. It features six skillful new pilots, including the renowned Imperial ace, Soontir Fel. The star fighter's "Boost" action affords tremendous tactical freedom, and the pack’s daredevil pilots can wrench maneuvers out of the ship that its designers at Sienar Fleet Systems may have never imagined. With its detailed miniature, two upgrades, and new pilots, the TIE Interceptor Expansion Pack creates exciting opportunities for all Imperial players.

Top customer reviews
As for the actual gameplay, this is one of the best ships in the game at present. While more expensive in terms of points than the standard TIE, it more than makes up for the additional cost with the extra damage die and more green maneuvers on the dial.
A word of caution though: Fantasy Flight underestimated the demand for these and the A-Wing model, and as a result, quickly sold out of them. You will often see scalpers trying to sell these for $30 or even $50! Do not buy at those prices. They will be reprinted, and even my local game store just got some restock.
If you have and enjoy the base game, you will definitely want to add 2-3 of these to your squad.
First, you get 6 new pilots (including 3 unique pilots with some very nice special abilities). Unique pilots include:
Soontir Fel, a level 9 pilot (the highest level) whose special ability reads, "When you receive a stress token, you may assign 1 focus token to your ship."
Turr Phenir, a level 7 pilot whose special ability reads, "After you perform an attack, you may perform a free boost or barrel roll action."
"Fel's Wrath", a level 5 pilot whose special ability reads, "When the number of damage cards assigned to you equals or exceeds your hull value, you are not destroyed until the end of the combat phase".
Second, it also includes two upgrade cards (one of which is exclusive to this expansion set at the time it was released): Daredevil and Elusiveness.
Finally, the TIE Interceptor also has the new "Boost" action, which allows you to move 1 extra straight, bank right, or bank left for your action (this can come in very handy to help you set up a shot or avoid being targeted by an opponent). Plus, it has 3 attack, which means it is more likely to succeed at a hit than Wave 1 Imperial ships which have only 2 attack.
The expansion also includes all tokens, dials, etc. that you need to use this ship in a game (though a copy of the base set is still needed to play).
Given all the nice new things it adds to the Imperial side, I think it is definitely a worthwhile addition to the game. I liked it so much that I bought 3 so I can run a 100 point squad that includes 3 TIE Interceptor and 3 TIE Fighters.
I would suggest the Imperial Aces pack to go with any single or 'fleet' purchase of Interceptors. It adds abilities that this single-ship expansion 'should' have had. Still good to have this ship even if you don't get Aces - everyone should have an Interceptor to stir the hornets nest with.
I highly recommend this expansion.
