Style Name: 2.5in SATASize: USB 3.0
Works exactly as advertised. I actually used this for my seagate external drive since the mini usb port started getting really loose and would lose contact easily. I pulled out the seagate SATA to mini USB adapter and plug this straight into the drive. The connection is very secure now and the USB 3.0 is noticeably faster too with the drive. I use the cable now for all my external drives because the SATA connection is so much more secure than any of the other smaller flimsy ones.
The cable itself is thick and feels of good quality.
By the way: I had to trim the corners of on the SATA side slightly (the thicker part) because the seagate plastic casing caused the SATA connection to be pretty deep inside. It's not the cables fault, the seagate casings/drives are designed like this so it's difficult to plug in anything other than their seagate connections designed for it, I was just using it for this application.

I have owned several dozen or so external harddrive bays/enclosures and adapters. This cable is probably one of the best things I have in my geek toolkit. You can connect nearly any 500GB platter HDD laptop drive to or any SSD drive and access via USB.
My other phone is a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and it supports and includes an microUSB to OTG USB adapter. I have been able to connect my 128GB SSD to this cable and then it to the OTG adapter and access an SSD on my Z3 Compact. This cable works great on Macs or Window computers (Mac Mini and Win7/8 tested) and SATA/SATAII/SATAIII laptop hard drives and ssds. It's very easy to carry around in case you need to pull data from a laptop hard drive. Desktop platter hard drives will not work and any laptop hard drives over 500GB won't either since the design of those hard drives requires more power to spin the extra platters added.
For being so cheap, I'd recommend this cable for anyone that owns or uses a computer. It will come in handy some day or every day.

Just to be clear, I bought the 2.5 inch version. This is a great little cable to have. My intended purpose was to clone my existing hard drive to a SSHD on my laptop. I needed a cable to connect to one of my USB ports or my eSATA port to my new hard drive. This cable worked flawlessly for that project. I simply snapped it on and it was ready to go.
The only problem I seem to have faced was that the actual hard drive itself was a bit exposed with nothing to protect it. For this, an enclosure would fit the job much better. Internal hard drives are intended to be stored internally where they are less likely to be moved or bumped. But with an enclosure, I would not have the ability to swap hard drives as quickly as I would with this cable.
Pros:
• Quick plug and play
• Quickly switch from connecting one hard drive to connecting another
• Sturdy construction
• Fast transfer rate
• Fits snuggly to a SATA port and a USB port respectively
Cons:
• No protection to the hard drive being plugged to
Conclusion:
So for this cable, you would have to see what your intended uses are. If it is for quick switching several hard drives, and protection is not an issue for you, then this is the product for you. If you need something to just transfer files from a hard drive without much switching around and would prefer to have some protection, get an enclosure.
