I'm Not a Techie and Conquered My Data Transfer in Record Time!!!!

Let's start by saying that I'm not a computer person when it comes to the mechanical aspects and what's inside. My old laptop got a virus which wiped out my OS. I couldn't even get the CD to run to overlay the OS and have hope of saving all my pictures, work files and house related data! My nephew (who IS good at this stuff), sent me the link to here and told me to buy this. I did. It came in a few days later and I waited about 2 weeks to attempt, what I thought would be, a nightmare! I decided to tackle it yesterday and after spending about 15 minutes taking the screws out of the old laptop and figuring out what was the hard drive, (and for those of you non techie ppl, it's very obvious when you get in there!!), I merely plugged one end into the old hard drive and plugged the other end into my new laptop and there it was!! I transferred all my files in less time than it took me to get the screws off the back of the old machine! Most of the other reviews went over my head, but if you just need to transfer your data from one hard drive to another, this product is golden!! Now I have all my files on my new laptop, but also have my old hard drive that I can use monthly to back up my new machine, using this cable!! I'm so smart! lol

Secure and works fast.

Works exactly as advertised. I actually used this for my seagate external drive since the mini usb port started getting really loose and would lose contact easily. I pulled out the seagate SATA to mini USB adapter and plug this straight into the drive. The connection is very secure now and the USB 3.0 is noticeably faster too with the drive. I use the cable now for all my external drives because the SATA connection is so much more secure than any of the other smaller flimsy ones.

The cable itself is thick and feels of good quality.

By the way: I had to trim the corners of on the SATA side slightly (the thicker part) because the seagate plastic casing caused the SATA connection to be pretty deep inside. It's not the cables fault, the seagate casings/drives are designed like this so it's difficult to plug in anything other than their seagate connections designed for it, I was just using it for this application.

I received the first one very fast, tried it out and it would not communicate with the new SSD purchased. Requested a replacement, it arrived in two days, plugged it in and is working perfectly. Cloned my original hard drive in my laptop and installed the SSD, now the computer boots up faster. Great customer service in getting a replacement out to me right away, Thank you.

This reads me IDE 2.5 HDDs, and has the ability to read me HDD 3.5 IDE HDDs. This is truly a good buy.

NOTE!!! If you leave this plugged up to your computer with NO IDE HDD attached when you start your computer, your computer will be expecting something to be hooked up, and will keep trying to detect the HDD for like awhile until it gives up and boots into your OS. So if your boot time is like 30 seconds expect it to be 10mins with this hooked up with no HDD attached. Solution - Just use it after your computer boots for whatever you need.

Worked once... then never again

I bought this because the ANKER one I purchased a while ago worked a few times then failed (no lights) and it needed a power brick so it was somewhat annoying. This adapter worked once to view the SMART status of a drive and then I put it away for a few weeks and now it does not work. It was stored in the drawer at my desk in a climate controlled building so my only explanation is that there is poor quality control or these things are just bad.

What a difference a space makes

Please note: This review is for the "USB 3.1 (10 Gbps) (USB-C)" cable. This is not the same as the "USB 3.1 (10 Gbps) (USB-C)" cable. The difference in the title is the extra space between "(10 Gbps)" and "(USB-C)". The one with two spaces is the latest version of this cable and is much better than the one-space version.

I had some first-generation SSD drives from a laptop I was decommissioning. I wanted a relatively cheap way to continue to use them on my new laptop.

This cable was perfect for the job. It comes with an power cord that provides plenty of power to spin up the SSD's. I connected it to my USB-C port and got reasonable throughput. My Windows 10 machine had no problem recognizing and accessing the disks. The cable is a little short so you'll need to keep the drives close to your USB-C port, but the base is heavy enough that the disks stand on end easily.

This cable did the job I wanted it to do and gave some extra life to my old SSD drives.

I needed to get data off of an old SATA hard drive, and the computer that it was in died. This allowed me to quickly and easily pull the data off of the drive without having to mess with putting it in another computer. I am happy that I opted for a connector that supported USB 3.0, as that helped to move the large amount of files quickly.

This came with everything that I needed to connect the drive. I had to go through the instructions twice, but everything that I needed to know to use this was in there.
