This is exactly what I needed to adapt my Unicomp Model M PS/2 to USB. I have it hooked up to my monitor via USB passthrough. So if you are concerned about that situation, now you know it'll work. The only downside is the PS/2 connectors are not very secure. Any amount of pressure will disconnect them. Right now, I have the adapter laying on my desk and the rest of the cable dangling off. If I let the whole cable/adapter hang off the desk, gravity will pull them apart. This is the reason for the one-star deduction.

If you used some electrical tape to hold them together, it would probably fix the issue.

Edit: after a few extra months of use, I have another problem. The adapter will periodically lose signal and I won’t be able to type. This happens briefly (5 seconds) and maybe once a day but it can be annoying when your are in the middle of something important. So I have deducted another star.

I bought a new Dell computer (XPS 8930 Special Edition) running Win10-x64, and my trusty ol' Logic Controls (now Bematech) LK1800M (132-Keys, PS/2 Interface, 2-Track Magnetic Strip Rreader and Fully Programmable 2-level keyboard), which I program with many e-addys, usernames, etc.) keyboard would not work on it because it didn't have a PS/2 port.

I have been using this keyboard since March, 2008!

I tried many of the active adapters available, such as the Sanoxy, etc., and NONE of them worked properly.
So I contacted the Bematech support team, and after trying many things, they sent me a newer and similar keyboard (LK8000) that connects by USB.

Well, this did not work properly either!

While looking around here at amazon.com, I came upon this gem of an adapter, and decided to give it a try.

Once it arrived, I installed it, having to use a male-to-male USB 2.0 cord to plug it into an available USB 2.0 port on the back of the desktop, and LO AND BEHOLD!!
...IT WORKS!
...FAULTLESSLY!!!

Works, but skips a lot of times

Maybe I got a bad one, I dunno. It works, but very frequently 'skips'. What I mean is I'll be typing away, but then will miss two, three, maybe four keystrokes. I'll have to stop and back up, and then type again. I thought it might be my old keyboard, but another keyboard did the same thing.

I bought this to use my old beloved keyboard, which has always worked flawlessly for typing or gaming. But now that it skips so frequently (several times a day I notice it while typing), I don't trust that it's doing me justice gaming.

I'm giving this two stars because it 'usually' works.

I wanted to continue to use my IBM Model M PS2 Keyboard on my new rig that has no USB Ports. I tried this, since StarTech usually makes good products. I used it with Windows 10 Professional. I am a relatively fast typist, and I noticed a tiny bit of lag while typing. I could live with that, but it would seem to sometimes buffer keystrokes - if I was moving my cursor through a list, sometimes it would just take off and fly and then stop. I didn't have sticky keys or other accessibility features turned on. In the end, I ended up buying a higher end USB mechanical keyboard and everything seems fine now.

Using it with an old AT-101w dell PS/2 keyboard. I connected the keyboard to the adapter then to USB port on may powered off laptop, then turned laptop on and the keyboard worked right away (I use this procedure to allow Windows 10 to look for the driver for new USB devices at power up, this seems to be the easiest way and win 10 has become a little better on this in recent years).
The adapter is a little bulky, so this adapter may need some additional desk space or can be impractical to carry around, but for my this is not an issue because the laptop that I use it on is almost always docked at a desk, also the AT-101W keyboard is massive, I would not try to carry it around anyway.

I didn't think it would work as I had tried the C2G branded 27277 USB Male to PS/2 Female Adapter and it would do nothing, Windows 10 Pro would not even recognize it. I've bought other StarTech accessories and they have always worked as intended, but I thought Windows 10 just didn't like the old school mechanical rubber ball mouse I bought. Shouldn't have doubted StarTech because Windows 10 Pro immediately recognized and set it up and my new old school mechanical gaming mouse is working!! And it is very well made with a good heft to it and quality, thick cabling...well worth the money.

Amazon did refund my monies for the other brand's adapter that didn't work.

It Works Well But Is Wobbly

I have been a Kinesis keyboard user since the product came to market. For writers and editors with small hands nothing compares to specially designed ergonomic keyboard. I had to upgrade to Windows 10 and there was no PS2 port. I have tried adapters which did not work well.

Since there was no open USB plug on the motherboard, I had to buy a short USB cable, wire the adapter out of the PC case to connect to the external USB ports on the back of the PC In order to do this I had to push out one of the open slots on the back of the PC. If for some reason I have to remove the PS2 plugs or plug in a new one its kind of wobbly, otherwise it works fine. There is nothing else that I find that works better.

StarTech also seems to be good brand for other items I bought. Thank you for making it so we don't have to give up the best keyboard ever made.

Needed to connect a old PC with separate PS/2 connectors for mouse and keyboard to a Belkin 4 port KVM switch that doesn't have any PS/2 inputs, only USB. The cheap PS/2 to male USB connectors didn't work and this was my only hope.

At first I couldn't get it to work with the KVM in that selecting the PC in question on the KVM no activity apparent from the keyboard or the mouse, but after power cycling the KVM it all works fine.

Expensive solution but it works which is the main thing.

Use in conjunction to a Male-Male USB cable.

Worked perfectly, Startech USB KVM, Startech KVM cable connected to this to the PS2 inputs..

Note though it is a VERY expensive way to get a keyboard working..

Confermo le impressioni avute anche da altri clienti: innanzitutto il funzionamento che e' perfetto rispetto agli adattatori che han sempre dato problemi. Poi in particolare confermo le impressioni di 'smz del 13 aprile 2015' che cito:"il connettore ed il cavetto (fornito) per il collegamento ad un header USB della motherboard *NON SONO POLARIZZATI* e bisogna prestare la *massima* attenzione al senso di inserimento" e "il connettore alternativo (per il collegamento ad una porta USB sul pannello esterno) è di tipo "A" (ragionevolmente dovrebbe essere di tipo "B") e quindi per collegarlo alla USB esterna servirebbe un cavetto USB A-A, che non è usuale e non è dato in dotazione" (soluzione che ho adottato io, perche' gia' l'avevo..). In piu' devo aggiungere che il lamierino della porta ps2, non potendo sfruttare l'appoggio della scheda che di solito va in uno slot, risulta debole e con la pressione dell'inserimento degli spinotti, tende a piegarsi, cosa che mi ha costretto ad una modifica per rinforzarlo. Ma, anch'io, superate queste difficolta', sono comunque soddisfatto del prodotto che ha risolto egregiamente il mio problema.

Error de diseño, inaceptable latencia (retraso)
Las acciones que hagas se "manifiestan" un rato después en la máquina/KVM donde esté conectado.

Para que te hagas una idea de lo que sufrirías:
El efecto es similar a trabajar en máquina remota con VNC sobre una red de gran latencia (retardo):
E.g: Mueves ratón y AL RATO se mueve puntero del mouse siguiendo el movimiento que tu hiciste...

HORRIBLE... sería un accesorio útil solo para gastar bromas pesadas a la gente...

No se te ocurra...
