It didn't work when I plugged it in and started my computer, unplugged and switched to a different USB port. Been working great for a month now with no repeat of the first issue.
The clack clack lives!
One reason that I'm very happy with this product is because it pairs great with the USB Switch Box that I bought to make a KM switch (KVM minus the "video" part). For years, I've wanted to share my keyboard and mouse between my desktop and a laptop (in it's docking station). That switch box only allows for one input, and the combination of this adapter and that switch work out perfectly for me.
If you have a PS/2 mouse and/or keyboard that you want to use with a computer that doesn't support them, or if you want to go my route and connect them up to multiple computers with that USB switch box, I highly recommend this product.
I purchased: USB TO DUAL PS2 Adapter Convertor – White by SaiTech IT; Monoprice PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse to USB Converter Adapter, Black (110934); Tripp Lite USB to PS/2 Adapter - Keyboard and Mouse (B015-000); TRENDnet USB 1.1 to PS/2 Converter, TU-PS2; Adesso PS/2 to USB Adapter, connects 2 PS/2 connectors to 1 USB port/hub (ADP-PU21 ); SANOXY USB to PS/2 Adapter (this one has wires); StarTech USB to PS/2 Adapter - Keyboard and Mouse; Radio Shack PS-2 Female to USB-A Port Adapter 26-723; and SANOXY PS2 Keyboard To USB Adapter (this one is a little block).
I tried them one by one. All were recognized on the USB Device Manager as a keyboard, yet all, but one, failed to allow the keyboards to be recognized and function.
The only one that worked perfectly for all 3 keyboards was the “SANOXY PS2 Keyboard To USB Adapter” – the one that is a little block. This being Amazon, I immediately returned the other 8 and ordered a bunch of the Sanoxy's. Thought you might find my experiment helpful.SANOXY PS2 Keyboard To USB Adapter

At first I couldn't get it to work with the KVM in that selecting the PC in question on the KVM no activity apparent from the keyboard or the mouse, but after power cycling the KVM it all works fine.
Expensive solution but it works which is the main thing.
Use in conjunction to a Male-Male USB cable.
Worked perfectly, Startech USB KVM, Startech KVM cable connected to this to the PS2 inputs..
Note though it is a VERY expensive way to get a keyboard working..
