I am writing this review to make a quick clarification that a lot of people don't seem to understand. Before you buy an adaptor cable for your macbook or other source, know the difference between a MINI DVI TO HDMI, a MINI DISPLAY TO HDMI, and a MICRO DVI TO HDMI. Many of the older macbooks use the MINI DVI. The newer ones use the MINI DISPLAY. Make sure you know what port you have before you order one that won't fit like some of the other people who have written upset reviews because they don't know what their computer uses. If you do want sound you are going to need to just use the speakers on your computer or you could plug them into an external system like me. ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE, KNOW YOU COMPUTER PORTS BEFORE YOU PLACE AN ORDER FOR SOMETHING YOU CAN'T USE.

This adaptor works fine. I bought it to hook up an Apple MacBook Pro to an HDTV. Apparently due to Apple's implementation of the mini-dvi port, it does not transfer sound, just the video, so you'll just get squeaker-speaker sound from the computer with your HD picture. I knew that ahead of time, so I wasn't disappointed.

This mini-dvi to hdmi works perfect on my macbook from 2007. You just need to check you model number before buying to check if you need either mini-dvi og mini displayport.

Ok, obviously you have to know if this cable fits ur laptop people. how ridiculous is it to have dvi port and give a product a 1 star rating because it's a mini dvi cable. So IF you have a mini dvi port, this cable is FREAKING AWESOME. It's like 1/30th the price of what apple will charge you for a mini dvi to dvi, and then a dvi to hdmi. this is all in one, and like 6 inches long, then just hook it up to any hdmi cable, and then to ur tv. The display looks amazing. I'm really happy with it. Just be careful when inserting it into ur computer. The port looks a little bit fragile...hope this helps!!! (also, audio doesn't flow through this as mini dvi doesn't send out audio...you'll need a two sided male headphone cord, then plug that into the auxilary of ur stereo or something

This worked for me, but the connection was easily shaken. I purchased a better quality one and it works fine, and after using this cheap adapter... well worth it.

I hate products like this... just because it's cheap doesn't mean it has an excuse not to work adequately.

I only needed it to stream video from my mac (purchased in 2008). The picture quality was clear for my 720p tv. You will need a separate cable for audio. Only complaint is that the connection between the mac and cable has to be perfect in order to get any video at all.

First of all, all of the people complaining that this adapter doesn't fit, you ordered the wrong adapter. The older MacBook uses this adapter (Mini DVI to HDMI). The newer MacBook, MacBook Pro & MacBook Air use the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable for Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro, iMac, Macbook Air, Mac Mini Laptop. Always double check the tech specs before ordering.

So, my adapter arrived and it fit (almost too snugly though) in my older black MacBook. The computer recognized it but the TV shows a strong green tint, as if one or more of the color channels isn't working. I've sent a complaint to the seller and will update this review once the issue is resolved.

Used this (along with an HDMI cord and a 3.5 aux cable) to hook my mom's old white '06 MacBook up to her giant flatscreen so she and her boyfriend can watch Amazon Prime, etc. on the big screen. I had used a different set up, mini DVI to DVI adapter and then a DVI to HDMI cable, to hook my own laptop up years ago and that had worked perfectly so I was a little nervous about using a different method. But this is much less bulky and offered the options of choosing many different lengths of HDMI cables (her laptop is on her desk and the sofa is between it and the tv). Would definitely buy again. The picture is perfect.
