Easily connect and swap 2.5in and 3.5in SATA drives from a 5.25in front bay - This SATA hard drive dock/docking station can be mounted internally in a 5.25in computer drive bay, to provide simple access to 2.5in or 3.5in SATA hard drives. Featuring a convenient trayless design, the internal hard drive dock doesn't require that hard drives be mounted in an enclosure, saving time and hassle. Once the docking station is connected to the host computer, it's as simple as inserting the desired SATA hard drive into the slot(s) as needed for full access to the hard drive(s) as though installed conventionally within the computer case. To maximize performance and utilize the full speed potential of your SATA III hard drives, this HDD Backplane supports SATA III for transfer speeds up to 6 Gbps when paired with compatible controller. The HDD dock accommodates both 2.5in and 3.5in SATA hard drives and can support one of each at the same time. Plus, when the 3.5in slot is not in use, two 2.5in drives can be inserted simultaneously. The 5.25in bay-mounted SATA Hard Drive Dock features front panel power control, allowing you to power the drives on/off as needed.

The top is for 2.5 only. The bottom can accept 3.5 or 2.5. Each connects via SATA cable from the back to the motherboard. There is a single molex connector for power. Yes, you can run both drives at the same time. I did without any issue.
Each drive has a separate power button. Ensure you turn the drives off before you remove them. The LED will indicate if the drive back is powered so you know it's safe to insert. This is not a true hot-swap. The power should be turned off to the specific bay, but the computer can stay running.
All my drives were detected quickly in Win 7x64.
The doors on the bay are kind of cheap. They seem to be a little sticky. They are designed to swing inward but sometimes on side will stick a bit and need a push. I'm sure they will work better as the plastic wears down.
For the price, you can purchase two of these and it would still be cheaper than buying many 4 drive solutions. I was going to buy the Vantec 4 bay dock (2.5") for $36, but having two of these gives me options for drive sizes. I can go with 4x2.5" or 2x3.5" & 2x3.5".
Also, this does not have any trays. The drives do stick out. You need to consider if you are okay with that or you if actually want trays with cool little latches and locks. I did not need them.
Makes "hot swapping" hard drives (laptop or desktop), for copying data or cleaning a breeze.
Has individual "power" buttons for each drive bay slot.
Takes 2 internal SATA connections and 2 power connections.
I used to use a "slave" cable for mounting extra drives to copy data or wipe clean. Now I just "pop" it in the correct slot, drive is recognized and ready for use.
The pretty blue LEDs are so damn bright I had to put tape over them.
I cant comment on the actual functioning as I now have to waste time and energy to return and replace.
This could be a nice product if they had a competent engineer rework the case material and fit/finish
