I love it when something from amazon does what it’s supposed to do. Emulator works like a charm and the unit has a real quality feel to it.

My only tiny gripe is that the full manual is not included. Just a quick start guide that doesn’t really tell you how to do anything besides clone an EDID. You have to go to their site for an actual manual. Not a big deal but it’s such a small manual that it should be in the box.

I need to force certain HDMI resolutions to test equipment we install. Changing it on the pc doesn’t change the active resolution of the hdmi output. It only changes the size of stuff on the screen so we needed a device like this. There’s a way to change real resolution through a gpu setting but we can never get it work.

We had a PC connected to a TV via a Denon receiver and everything works great until we switch the receiver over to another device. When we would switch back to the PC, the TV screen would be blank (even though the PC was on and screen was not off, no screen saver, etc.) Usually a Ctrl-Al-Del would fix it but sometimes a reboot would be needed to get it working again.

The StarTech EDID emulator fixes all of that. The PC is consistently receiving an EDID and the PC believes it is always connected to the TV. If you take out the single 1 star review (due to a missing manual), every review is 4 or 5 stars.

I looked at some of the ~$20 options but they lack the ability to copy the EDID.

Good value EDID emulator. I had hoped the manual resolution switch would force the device to report "only selected resolution". Instead it appears to report "up to selected resolution", which is not what I needed.

Has a bunch of preset monitor types but really all you need to do is set the mode to #1, connect it to a 5v USB and the DVI to the monitor you want it to emulate, press the button until the LED flashes green and then wait about 3 seconds until the LED turns blue. Now when you connect this to any graphics card it will think it is connected to the monitor you set it to emulate. Works like a charm for non monitor devices in mixed signal environments by keeping your GPU from getting confused by what you are connecting it to,

Great solution for a KVM that doesn't properly support DDC EDID emulation

I purchased this EDID emulator because the Linkskey LDV-302ARC that was advertised as supporting DDC EDID emulation, did not. The StarTech DDC EDID emulator allows me to switch between computers without Windows 7 thinking that the monitor has been disconnected and rearranging my desktop for me. I especially like the built in switch to allow either reading and storing the monitor's EDID, or providing EDID data based on the resolution I select.

This device does exactly what I wanted it to do. I can either set the EDID with the rotary dial, or I can have it learn the resolution I want. I liked it so much, I purchased another one for my road tool kit.

Product comes without a full manual. You can't emulate EDID settings, only clone. They should of not launched product until they had the manual done. You can't even get a copy of their manual on their website. Very disappointed and frustrated with Startech.
