It works, although I'd recommend getting a cable that's correct to begin with. This adds an extra lens between the path so there's possibility of data loss. I don't have the equipment to test that but logically you'd assume so.

The total weight was less than one ounce and was sent by first class mail for 41 cents and the company had the baXls to charge $6.95 for s/h!!!! I saw the s/h charge and expected overnight but no four days later it arrived. This company should NOT be part of Amazon!!

I intentionally made the considerably-higher investment in StarTech optical cables and adapters with Amazon only to later learn it is not uncommon, and is, in fact, more common than they care to publicly disclose to SUBSTITUTE inferior look-alike components at the full cost of premium counterparts. My first purchase of the StarTech GCTOSMINIFM TOSLINK to mini TOSLINK pulg adapter yielded what I later learned was an inferior substitute that, upon closer inspection, looked nothing like the StarTech part pictured here. The part I received did not have the ribbed base, and it literally crumbled in a matter of weeks. So, no biggie, I ordered another StarTech part, again, only to receive an inferior substitute. When I called them on it, they came back on the line after a long hold and admitted this and offered me (what I can only imagine was) hush money. They then told me it was not uncommon for them to substitute for items they do not have in stock. Needless to say, the second "StarTech" adapter (which does not have the ribbed base) has fallen apart after a few weeks. So, unless they are willing to confirm that these are the authentic StarTech items, you might want to buy from the manufacturer, because Amazon was unwilling to ensure that I would receive what I ordered again. Lesson learned, Amazon.
