Add two Gigabit Ethernet ports and a USB 3.0 pass-through port to your laptop through a single USB 3.0 port. The USB32000SPT USB 3.0 to Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter lets you add two Gigabit Ethernet ports to your laptop or Ultrabook computer through a single USB 3.0 port, and features an integrated USB 3.0 pass-through port that keeps your USB port available for use with external storage or other peripherals. Each RJ45 port supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet and is fully compatible with IEEE 802.3i/u/ab standards. This 2-port USB LAN adapter is a versatile solution for connecting to two separate physical networks simultaneously, leveraging the 5 Gbps speed of USB 3.0 to provide dedicated gigabit bandwidth to each port. The dual USB NIC is also ideal for providing dedicated physical network interfaces to virtual machine configurations. Great for IT administrators that require dual-homed or multi-homed host systems. The USB 3.0 NIC supports IPv4/IPv6 packet Checksum Offload Engine (COE) and TCP large send offload to reduce the load on your CPU, as well as Jumbo Frames, full-duplex operation with 802.3x flow control, and VLAN tagging for an efficient and full-featured USB network adapter.

Startech has always come off as being a trusted, good quality brand in my mind. I've never had any bad luck with their products.
I ordered one unit, months ago and have been using it without issue and getting USB and Ethernet speed efficiency out of it without issue. It had performed consistently without fail.
I am a little disheartened and even skeptical with some of the negative reviews being left about this product. I wonder if cause for reported issues are OE related, if not then this product being used on a USB 2.0 (or less) port, which would certainly produce some (if not all) of the issues being reported.
I have purchased 2 more for machines I have lacking both sufficient USB ports and ethernet ports and so far, still performing up to snuff.
I am pulling just over 100MB/s transfer (usb 3.0 port and gigabit connection)to and from my file server...just as good as my onboard Ethernet port. There are many options in the drivers settings in device manager. But only supports Jumbo frames of 4K. The led indicator lights are molded into the front of the port itself. The actual port is plastic, but has a ring of metal on the outer inside of the port. Cable clicks in securely.
I have tested this device in both windows 7 and Windows 8 and it performs well. The drivers were automatically installed via Windows upon plugging in the adapter. (As with any device, You need to be already connected to the internet(wifi etc) for Windows to search and auto download the driver, otherwise it will fail to install).
Really good product.
802.3ad is well known with 2 links bundled, however you need to research that bundling ports will not increase throughput. I did find workarounds in Windows 8 & Win 10 by using powershell to create-netlbfo teams which to my surprise worked great connecting the workstation to QTY 2 iSCSI LUNs at which point this adapter will function very similar to link bundled servers an somewhat improve performance.
I was all set to keep this adapter and use it for heavy creative workflows (adobe suites, etc.) ...but that's when the problem came in. Even w/o the link bundling, if this adapter was connected via USB to the Lenovo ...when the PC went to sleep all Fans jumped to high speed sounding like a jet turbine in the room. It appears this adapter does not support proper sleep functions over USB3. Thought is was my new Win 10 build, and tried many of the usual suspects
1. Leave it plugged in to USB3, Sleep PC = hung sleep mode with all fans on MAX
2. Unplug this from USB port, Sleep PC = Perfect Sleep!
Repeated both steps above several times with same results. Hoping StarTech will fix this issue in future drivers.
