HELPFUL HINT. Some reviewers report one or more of the USB hub ports stop working. First, make sure your computer is awake and you are logged in before you plug in the Hub. If the USB hub doesn’t work after your computer wakes from sleep mode, Windows likely automatically turned off the USB Root hub to save power. To prevent this:
Go to Control Panel. Click Hardware and Sound, then click Power Options. Click Change plan settings for the plan you want to change. Click Change advanced power settings. Click the plus sign (+) next to “USB settings” and “USB selective suspend setting” to expand the options and change the setting to Disabled. Click OK to apply the setting.

StarTech makes reliable stuff in my experience. This hub has limitations but it is likely the fault of either the USB 2.0 protocol or Windows. I'm not sure which, but it wasn't worth investigating in either case.
I originally plugged a USB DAC into the back of the 7 port model. The hub seemed to stop working altogether sometimes when a new audio device was plugged in (such as the microphone in my webcam, or the speaker/microphone combo on a DualSense controller.). Like I said, I don't know for sure, all I know is it blows up in my ultra niche experimental usage. I figured these would all be low bandwidth enough to not cause an issue, but obviously something is getting mucked up somewhere.
It's been rock solid since opting to plug my DAC directly into my motherboard as it was before.
It has a Bluetooth Dongle connected all the time and various game controllers connected both wired and through bluetooth. I've also used it for data transfers off of my phone and to my kindle, as well as to charge my kindle and wireless controllers. The hub charges the kindle just as fast as the wall charger does. My webcam is connected through it as well but gets unplugged when not in use.
However, the box/envelope it came in did take a beating from the way it was packaged and it had a weird odor to it almost like gum mixed with something else and just did not look very nice.
Despite that, the product came intact and is a trusted established brand.
If you need a USB Hub that will last this is the one to get!
Top reviews from other countries
It is connected to:
1.) Mount
2.) Autoguider
3.) DSLR
Even when the Autoguider and the DSLR are feeding images simultaneously, with only 1 wire, it's very good! Data transfer is pretty smooth and fast.
I also use it as a desktop hub when it isn't on the telescope. With or without its power supply, it is a plug-'n-play USB hub.
If plugged in with its AC adapter you can also use this as a charging platform/hub. Based on its specs, the hub's output current is 2A which is a fast charger compared to the small Apple USB plug outputting only 1A.
When hosting parties, your guests no longer need to look wall sockets... no more random phones on random wall sockets. Again, one hub to rule them all!
It is a light thing, so I suggest that you secure it in place to prevent it from moving. I use velcro to attach it to my telescope or desk.
Overall, pleased to have this hub.
