Just ordered a second one... hope that one works as well!

Downside is that it's LP, but I have a standard plate so easy to swap. Will have to scrounge to locate a plate for the one I just ordered.. else an old video card will have to part w/ it's plate for the Good of the Team.

But the important thing is that this WORKS. Needed a short MB-Header to 9 pin serial for backwards compatibility with the I6/I7 series boards where they Got Sneaky and turned off native USB support for KB/Mice in Windows 7. Yes, can DISM or inject the drivers on the fly, but never hurts to be lazy and just plug something in. Also in the event of Something Weird, always good to have something that works w/o a need for tweaking, and if any old APC UPSes wander by and need to communicate with them via cable, will also be set.

I recently discovered to my amazement that a relatively new socket 1150 motherboard actually had a COM header! I needed a COM port for an older legacy item that communicates this way and purchased this header to give it a try. Yes, it worked perfectly.

Be advised that this version has a low profile bracket. I knew this going in and actually purposely purchased it this way as it saved me around 60 cents.... as I already had spare full height COM port brackets.

The header on the cable has the following pin-out: DTK/INTEL

Whereas my motherboard has: AT/EVEREX

I had to clip the cable and re-solder the connections. Works fine otherwise. Just wish the description would specify which of the 2 IDC-10 pin-outs it is using.

Please note that this is a LOW profile bracket (3") and not the standard (4.5") bracket.

The top of the bracket screw slot faces the opposite direction from standard
full-height cards (video, WiFi, etc).

Standard full-height chassis computers should look to get their PLATE9M or equivalent.

DB-9 (9 pin D-Sub) male Serial Port connector on a low profile plate bracket. Although this is a standard DB-9 male connector on a bracket, it will only fit PC cases, designed to take low profile brackets. The module will take up one slot at the rear of your PC and the cable should be long enough to reach from any COM socket position on your motherboard to the case. The cable is about 21 cm (8 1/4" in) long, with a keyed 10 way IDC connector, designed to fit into the appropriate socket on the motherboard (look for a socket with COM written next to it). The cable received looks well made and solid built, had not problems installing it.
