The campaign is more difficult than either HOTS or WOL (much harder than HOTS, slightly harder than WOL) so you will get 15-60+ hours of enjoyment out of the story depending on how much of a perfectionist you are.
The guide that comes along with this purchase is wonderfully made from the perspective of a terran military briefing (with commentary of one or more disgruntled marines scribbled onto the pages providing nice humor).
The box it comes in is a little odd for its size but designed beautifully.
As far as multiplayer goes you have 3 coop commanders accessible only in LOTV and automated tourneys, archon mode, and a soon to be revamped ladder system to keep you busy.
Have not yet tested the accompanying cd or dvd but given the awesome soundtrack from the campaign I have little doubts that they will not be to my liking.
I was also very happy with the day of release delivery that Amazon was able to do, as this was the first time I have pre-ordered a game through them.
I grew up playing loads of RTS. Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, Starcraft: Brood War, Warcraft III, etc.
Stuck with Blizzard RTS ganes because of their constant support (and user base).
I spent hundreds of hours playing Starcraft II and even got to Masters. There is nothing more satisfying than playing out games right after you get home from work to school some newbs. Strategy is constantly evolving, and Blizzard has shown they're ready to support SC II for years to come.
People I know who have gotten into this game ended up investing hundreds of hours playing this. It doesn't matter your skill level, or your perceived skill ceiling. You will find this game to be an extremely enjoyable (and rewarding) experience.
The box is cool; first time buying a physical copy of game.
Is this collector's edition really worth the price? No.
Especially if you have not purchased the first two but plan to (that's me). The $99 Complete package available at Blizzard's website is probably the better option.
Have not opened the other stuffs, soundtrack, dvd, and some guide book, but I don't expect them to be any surprising.
I guess I will just be satisfied with the fact that my battle.net account says I own collector's edition :\
