I purchased this game to complete my collection of the starcraft series. I have been a fan of the series since sc1 pre sc1 remaster. So imagine my shock when I finally got around to finishing my collection by receiving legacy of the void and no authentication key. My pc does not have a cd drive but I wanted to have the hard copy of the game because I loved the box art. That being said I was dependent on having that Auth key. I probably got the one bad one in the batch and am in the process of working with Blizzard to see if I could get an Auth code or a credit to get the game. Still Crap sauce.

Opened the box and there is no cd key. I literally spent like 17+ nyc tax and cannot play the campaign… I contacted blizzard and they said I should contact the seller in order to receive my key, because they are the ones who must provide the cd key, I tried contacting amazon but it only gives me the option to contact blizzard for support… so… yes…. I lost 20 bucks… thanks amazon…

Protip: the difference between the two is a factor of 200 billion and any entity(s) capable of conquering, creating, or anything-ing the entire observable universe would be powerful enough to swat aside every lifeform in the Koprulu sector like a gnat off the bow of the Hyperion.
Oh, and there's this whole Void thing which is kinda like WarHammer 40K's Immaterium, except it doesn't really do a lot to advance the plot aside from providing spackling for a thin story and allowing the reuse of existing units from other races as malevolent minions of a character who seems to be evil simply for the sake of being evil..
The whole things seems like a sophomore writing class exercise that got out of hand.
That being said, a few of Fenix/Talandar's lines caused me to literally laugh out loud, and Alarax is a entertainingly sadistic.
In terms of gameplay, it's mostly excellent. Some of the campaign-only units will have me longing for them in multiplayer (Centurions, Havocs, Annihilators) and most of the levels and objectives manage to stay interesting, despite some wild variations in difficulty, even on the same setting.
Blizzard really seems to have taken to this idea of "Put the player in crappily laid out base and make them defend it against waves of scripted enemies spawning ex-nihilo from offscreen", which kind of sucks if you're a Rommel-esque hit & run maneuver warfare sort of commander, although once you finally manage to assemble a genuine Death Ball of complimentary forces in the late game, their sheer earth-scorching destructive firepower will bring a tear to the eye of even the most seasoned RTS player.
Played StarCraft 1 many years ago and loved that one.
Also Blizzard just keeps putting out a better game each time around. Also its flawless in operation every time I play it.
Being real time based, makes it outstanding. Take your eyes off the ball or miscalculate a move and you pretty much do yourself in.
Plays much different than real time 1st person shooter games. You have to command groups and manufacture the correct proportions of raw materials to manufacture the armaments and upgrades you need for a particular situation.
The Legacy of the Void pretty much forces me to learn the Protoss race and their abilities.
I have been a fan of the Terrans and play them almost exclusively against the other two races and the Terrans themselves.
Once I get through the mission I will spend most of my time playing against the AI (race of my choice) in different levels and the large selection of maps available, including new ones from players. Even with the missions to complete on this version I still enjoy playing AI mode.
I am already trying out some of the new equipment/weapon systems being offered when in the AI mode.
When I get up some courage I may actually try other real life players.
That being said, the multiplayer experience for SC2 pales in comparison to my SC/BW days. Newer users will have an easier time picking it up and "being good" but there were too many conveniences added in to appease the masses. I'd go back to SC/BW multiplayer in a heartbeat if it were still an active community.
Top reviews from other countries
This game is hardware intensive due to the rendering of many units at a time, so keep that in mind when purchasing and make sure that your computer reaches the minimum recommended requirements.
SC2 LOTV offers a lot of gameplay, with a deep (and challenging) story mode, as well as competitive and cooperative online play.I found myself spending hours trying to earn the mastery achievements and spending a lot of time playing co-op with my friends. Being a moderately high ranked player in the previous installments of Starcraft 2 (Diamond League), I found that the competitive online play became stale before long, and that is pretty much the only reason for this to receive less than 5 stars.
Both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 have horribly bad plot and writing. Great flavor/atmosphere as always, but the actual meat of the story just doesn't have any juice to it. Boring, generic, predictable and contrived.
Still, it's a very fun game so four stars, but four stars is a fail for Blizzard IMHO.
$50 is the average price for a good game, and I will play it for years. YEARS.
There is a steep climbing hill in ranked matches, so you can avoid that. I like the arcade section, with custom games using variety of settings.
First person shooter, a zombie scene survival, a tower defense, a real-time click action style.... depending on the GAME INSIDE THE GAME
If you played StarCraft when you were in middle school, do yourself a favour. Finish the story.
