This is definitely one of Volley's best books to date. It's very sweet, with a slight touch of naughty, but also very sad. As per the usual, Stardust is delivered with the unmistakable style of Rue; wit, charm, humor, some yummy characters, bits that utterly kick you right in the heart, and a deeper meaning than you'd ever think, all served up in a light paranormal sauce.
Most compelling, to me, is the atmosphere of the book. You really do feel as if you're on the train or in the town, or Jazz's home. The world Volley has built this time around is amazing and lovely, and a little dark.
And let's not forget the characters. Just, wow. I found myself so wrapped up in their story that, here and there, I found myself talking to my husband about them as if I knew them in real life. They are believable and lovable (yes, even that bitchy one), and I felt as if their plight was my own. Steel yourselves, because these folks are going to worm their way into your heart.
Overall, I truly loved every single page of Stardust, I read it in less than a day. If you're wanting to foray into the world of Rue Volley, this is easily one of the first stops, as it's not full-on paranormal like some of her works, nor is it naughty. It's a great introduction into the beautiful universe that Rue Volley has created.
I rarely give more than a 4-star review, but this one deserves it. I loved it, from sentence one to the last."
