Personally, I liked the alternating perspectives in this instance because the main character is a man, and it would’ve been weird for me to not have the woman’s perspective since that’s obviously what I relate to. However, because there were dual perspectives, I feel like it would have been nice to have more pages for an opportunity to really flesh the relationship out more. It felt like a quick rush of a ride. I would’ve enjoyed more banter, more development (even if some of the development also played out in side friendships). Which I felt like I really got in I Have Never.
Regardless, I’m still giving this story 4 stars because I enjoy the author’s writing style and I like that it’s a clean romance. I’m still going to read the rest of the series, and I don’t regret purchasing (as opposed to doing the kindle unlimited option).
A meet cute story of an A-list actor and a science professor at UCLA who doesn't watch TV or movies. They do seem kind of incompatible, she's an avid environmentalist and he only travels on private planes...but by the end she seems to convince him to take a walk on the green side.
It was fairly predictable but sweet, and the story doesn't drag out longer than necessary.
Lana is, well, a rocket scientist who avoids movies and tv and opts for books, naturally. Christian a movie star looking for someone to value him beyond his celebrity. Fortunately or unfortunately for Christian, Lana is not aware of his fame. Mmmm
Humor and heart combined sweetly with (mostly) closed door love scenes, which was refreshing. Ms. Isley has a deft touch with conversation, a cute handle on texting, and a way of NOT telegraphing the next plot twist. You may be sure this won't be the last book I read by this new-to-me author!
I received this book from ARC for free. My review is voluntary and honest.

Straight off the bat I loved Christian Slade. I thought he was charming and an absolute sweetheart. He made me laugh with his matter of fact ways and how he handled his fame sometimes. There are moments when you'd think he should be coming across obnoxious like when he white-lies when trying to live a normal life and does crazy things to try and keep his identity under wraps (like swapping his Ferrari for a Tesla) but honestly he just comes across endearing and funny. I smiled and giggled so much and loved his banter with his personal assistant and how she just accepted his ways. There really was just something so sweet and lovely about him that I enjoyed. He worked hard for his money, loved acting and wasn't just in it to be famous and I thought that was very cool.
Lana I thought was awesome too. I envied her smarts and thoroughly loved reading about her job as a scientist. She had such a down to earth sweet nature, but I loved that Christian bought her to life, made her have fun and step out of her comfort zone a little bit, while still remaining true to who she was.
I very much enjoyed that Christian and Lana were with each other through the good and bad. They accepted each other for who they were and I liked that they both owned up to their mistakes and didn't just blame each other. They fought for each other and worked on making their different lifestyles fit together which was beautiful too. Their banter and adventure was so much fun to be a part of.
There's a delightful element of glitz and glamour mixed in with the coziness of settling down and living a more peaceful life which makes 'To the Stars and Back' such a wonderful read.
Lana is an eco-friendly rocket scientist Professor who doesn't watch TV. After catching her fiance and her best friend having an affair in a hotel she is having a bit of a weep in the janitor's closet when the World's Sexiest Man, actor Christian Slade also decides to hide from the paparazzi in the same closet. Intrigued by a woman who has no idea who he is, Christian is smitten but can romance really flourish between a Hollywood superstar and a down-to-earth 'normal' woman?
This was a sweet and engaging romance, even better it was a Kindle freebie.
