Editorial Reviews

2011 two CD collection from the late singer/songwriter. Tim Buckley's work was remarkable for it's reach and range, with numerous stylistic shifts, including Folk, sex-funk and a sort of vocal Avant-Garde Jazz, during his eight year recording career, from his December 1966 debut to Look at the Fool, released in November 1974, seven months before his death from an accidental heroin overdose, aged 28. As for his voice it was a dazzlingly flexible instrument, capable of octave leaps and the sort of daring normally expected of the free jazz giants. This best of charts this fearless artist's progress from teen folkie to starsailing voyager at the forefront of the radically unusual. Music Club Deluxe.

Many Thanks, Rhino and Music Club and whoever did the remastering on this wonderful compilation. The sleeve notes are a bit sparse and contain a few glaring inaccuracies but who cares when the sound quality is almost as deep and as high as the vinyl records. Also there are seven of the nine tracks from 'Starsailor' on here as well! At long last the best ever Singer-Songwriter, Tim Buckley of course, is receiving long overdue recognition on the digital front. Spare ten minutes of your valuable time and listen to 'Lorca'. Nobody else sings that good, nobody! Those lyrics are really something too. Now perhaps we can look forward to The 1970 Starsailor Band Concerts and that unreleased 1967 gem 'Lady Give Me Your Key' being released. Please make it soon though, we ain't any of us getting any younger

Love all of it except the specific songs from Starsailor itself. But, so glad to have the anthology and other songs I didn't know.
Starsailor songs specifically (maybe 4) are a bit too chaotic for my tastes, but one of Tim Buckley's passages. Sure do miss him!

Tim would always get a five star review from me. He work is astounding! My four star rating is a reflection of my anger at having to buy his work piecemeal like this; his Starsailor, Lorca, and Blue Afternoon recordings are all out of print. That is ridiculous.

I sure do miss this man's work. It would have been wonderful to see him grow as an artist. Still, there's quite a body of songs.

I bought Tim's "Hello and Goodbye" in 1968 or 9 and have held him at one of the highest levels as a "Talent". What we have missed out on! So grateful for this collection! Thank you.
