Rachel Brookhart is a writer who likes to dream up ways to make things better. She was inspired to write this book by her work in the nonprofit sector. Over the last decade, she’s worked with thousands of do-gooders that have the passion to do great things, but need some guidance on how to do it efficiently and effectively. In her spare time, she likes to write, volunteer in her community, and she is always up for a good glass of bourbon. The language is clear without talking down and the example stories are playful illustrations of the points being made. This one should be on every nonprofit's reference shelf and a regular handout to new members.
What's so great about "Start Your Engines . . . " is how Rachel Brookhart has distilled all the most salient aspects of nonprofit management into this pint-sized book. I have a Masters in Nonprofit Management and was impressed not only by the conciseness of Brookhart's work but also by how effectively she illustrates her message through a fun and accessible metaphor.
If you are involved in the nonprofit world, this is a must-read!
